Can he fire his family?

Bud.

Cam already has enough money .. he is not going to say EXTEND ME EVEN IF ITS FOR A SMALLER COST I JUST NEED SECURITY IN CASE I GET INJURED ..

Please.

If he stays healthy in 2020 and has a great season, an extension he could get now would be a fraction of what he would get after a great 2020

It was never a case of wanting to get rid of Newton. Nobody wanted that.

It was, and may still be, a case of Newton wanting a commitment (via extension) that the team isn't willing to give.

They'd be fine with him playing out the final year of his contract, but Newton (or more specifically his representation) might not be.

So either Newton has to agree to play out a year with no guarantees (risky for him) or the Panthers have to agree to some sort of extension with guarantees (risky for them).

Basically, relationship status equals "it's complicated".

Characterizing that as "wanting to move on from him" is dumb, but that's where some have gone with it.

Except no one knows anything. Cam has stated he wants to be here with no mention of an extension or playing on a one year deal.

Tepper has said he wants Cam if healthy with no mention of an extension or playing on a one year deal.

I get what you’re trying to claw at but in no scenario outside of some guy on here saying Cecil Newton would never let Cam play without an extension.

End of the day if both parties want it Cam will be here and honestly for the team that’s the best scenario unless somehow we think a QB in the draft would be better than Cam

I promise you, the very second there is something substantial to report, one of these reporters will do just that. So far, it’s mostly chatter. I’m sure it will all clear up over the next few weeks, or at least by early spring. I don’t have an official prediction to share on this. I have no idea what they’re going to do. I have an opinion on what they should do. But even that’s not without strong considerations. It really is an interesting time right now.

Well what's you opinion?  That's what this thread is here for even if it's something I dont agree with.

I imagine the next head coach, and part-time-GM/ Backup-GM/ Assistant-GM/ whatever, will have some input as well. At some point, injury age and arthritis becomes a concern too.

Sorry I dont see any rookie qb or for that matter the top 2 qbs being better then Cam. They are high bust rate guys. And it's obvious both parties want it in my opinion..to me Cecil will never restrict his son either

Honestly I not that concerned about his shoulder the way he threw in the first two games this season. He didn't have a problem with zip he had a problem with his foot causingn accuracy issues

we've seen that before.  at first he looked good in the first half of games and then deteriorated in the 2nd half of games.  last year in his 2 games he was awful.   its easy to blame it all on the foot and fits your narrative.   i hate to say it, but if he's here we're not gonna know until late in the season if his shoulder can take it anymore.

I just feel he wants to be here bad and 30 isnt that old and surgeries get better every year. His cleanup fixed the shoulder I think and have you seen dude lately, hes shredded dude works out Hard hes a huge guy with 1% body fat I swear he outdoes TO even when he was trying to come back.

Looking "shredded" doesn't really tell you anything about the health of bones, tendons and muscles underneath.

I don't doubt Newton wants to be here. I don't doubt the Panthers want him here. The problem is that both sides want that to happen on their own terms, and the differences in those terms are difficult to reconcile.

Maybe they can work out the differences, but that's not guaranteed.

We'll see what happens.

If the sources of those rumors came from his family, I'd say that they are about as credible as random Twitter trolls.

The sources aren’t even his family it was a member here saying Cecil would never let Cam play without an extension and guaranteed money. Which makes zero sense to put any stock into

There is no proof of any of this, just speculation on your part

I do but I think tepper s on the Cam train and in the end that's what matters. Plus by the attention he got when the rumors went up who wouldn't want to coach cam. That's the thing other nfl organizations have shown alot of interest...why wouldn't we keep someone with that much quality. Ellis videos are all I need to prove he will be good to go in 2020.

It does tell you he has the ability to go through intense workout regimens, I've done it and you cant look like that with bad tendons. It fuging hurts, I've tried working with a pulled tendon,  it was stupid. But I got to 195 before a car wreck took it all away. I think Cam is also one of the most agreeable players out there. You dont see him pulling top 5 money quotes like Bradberry.  I like Bradberry but I dont like the greed...its millions regardless alot of players on this team take lesser deals to help out. I bet luke does on his extension.
