If we spend a boatload of money on a poor choice, it's a good sign that the people in charge don't know what they're doing.

I don't give a rat's ass about the team looking stupid.

I'm extremely concerned about them actually being stupid.

Matt Millen was one of the highest paid GMs in the league at one point.  I believe he made somewhere around $50M total from the team.  I think that's the kind of throwing around big money but being stupid you are talking about?

What would you have done

Finished the other interviews, at least McDaniels, before deciding.

Also would have felt a lot better if Tepper had brought in a consultant rather than just trusting that he and Marty were enough of a braintrust to make this decision on their own.

I mean mr scot is on record saying none of the coaching candidates he was absolutely thrilled with. So now he has a problem with the amount that was paid to secure the one Tepper chose. somehow because he paid I dunno 10 or 20 million more than he should makes the decision dumber? The amount of money Tepper can spend has no bearing on whether the decision was stupid or not. The money literally doesn’t matter because it has no bearing on football operations if he paid him 10 or 20 million less or not. Tepper is beyond wealthy. It only matters from a public perception standpoint. And to that I say who fuging cares.

We’re talking about the amount of money. That’s what I quoted you on.

Heard on nfl xm this afternoon that Mara said they had already picked that wr coach but were still going to give Rhule the interview because they had said they would, then Rhules agent told them about our offer and they said no thanks lol. Sounds made up, a “you can’t fire me, I already quit” situation.

You're talking about the amount of money.

I'm talking about whether we're spending our money smartly.

I don't care how much we spend if it's spent wisely.

If it's spend stupidly, the fact that they spent more of it than other people would have doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

You really don’t get it

We should feel even better about having Tepper own the franchise.

He found his number one choice to be the leader of this team and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Who gives a flying F what any other owner thinks. Tepper is the captain now. Those other cheap skate billionaires will learn.

Would skeptical Panthers fans have preferred Tepper to offer him $5 mill per year, and then he goes and gets scooped up by the Giants?

This and tepper by trade is a gambler that puts the odds in his favor but has no fear...that is a stock trader. This should give us finally a leg up on most nfl franchises.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
