No, but everyone else passed on McD too. The guy was a disaster in Denver and probably showed everyone with that Colts' spurning last year that maybe he didn't learn many if any lessons from those mistakes in Denver.

Technically we never got the chance to pass on him.

(hoping that doesn't come back to bite us)

Starting to wonder if McDaniels' personality or character flaws are the issue. Maybe I'm reading something into it. Bellicheat certainly didn't set him up for success in finding a job. Now, if he does have to return to NE with a sub-par Brady or potentially a new QB, he may not be the most attractive candidate next year.

And, for the record, I was on the McDaniels train going into this week. I am looking forward to seeing if the Rhule "Process" will work on the NFL level, but I was very surprised we didn't even give McD an interview.

We passed on him by not even going through with the scheduled interview. I get it that you wanted him bad but I truly believe we dodged a massive bullet.

Not quite true. It's not that I wanted McDaniels so much as the option of McDaniels.

Basically, I would have  much preferred that we interviewed both before making a choice. And while I wasn't high on Stefanski, I still would have been okay with interviewing him as well (keep all your options open).

The way Tepper describes the decision process that led to Rhule just screams impulse buy / emotional decision / gullible buyer, especially given that Marty was a big part of it.

We had the option. We passed.

Because Marty and Tepper bought the sales pitch that this deal was just too good to pass up.

I hope they're right, but I've got no reason to trust Tepper yet, and I've got every reason to distrust Marty.

I'm fine with it. You know the right fit when you see it.  I'm just glad we didn't fall for the "Belichick coaching tree" (that looks more like a dead shrub burning in the Australian outback) candidate who already ran one team into the ground in record time and then decided he was too good for another one after already agreeing to take the job.

Yeah.  I did not want McDaniels.

Marty saw the right fit twice already, to pretty similar results.

You know the right fit when you see it if you know what you're doing.

Get the next GM right and we can talk about being optimistic, but if it's a Marty choice I'm not going to feel a whole lot better.

Why would anyone want to watch the browns for any reason and for any length of time?

I'm willing to bet most Browns fans are proud of the ineptitude.  Its like a badge of honor.  "I'm so loyal my favorite team is the Browns".

Also they wouldn't know how to act if they started winning.

They'd be lost and miserable people.
