So the media believes Fox is a genius??

So does completing 50% of your passes for 94 yards (67 of those on two plays) get the pressure off Jake? As thrilled as I was to witness the win and especially how we got it I think its unrealistic to expect this every week. The problem is when we get behind and Jake is forced to throw 40 times a game. So until we see how he reacts to that situation (again) Im not sold on this being our best QB option.

Even with so few passes he still had questionable throws into coverage but came out OK...this time. I hope we can contain Brees next week and give them their first loss; but if Jake has to pass to keep up we will be in trouble.

So how many more times will we see smoke and go route to Smitty since it worked last game? I love the call as corners have been jumping that quick down the line pass (not sure what that play is called.. just "smoke"??) for years and that definitely helps to keep them honest.

This may be me playing Captain Obvious but it does seem like the media has decided that nobody else could have accomplished what Jake did last Sunday and we should all pat him on the back for being a "game manager" (he is not). If that is what we expect from him then he becomes Trent Dilfer, Kyle Orton type of QB that cant win games but could definitely lose them for you. And he does lose them. Alot.

Go Panthers!! I still have hope for this year!

If Fox gets fired, people are going to be shocked how fast he gets signed.

The trolls in this fanbase here are the only ones who view Fox in a poor light.

Stop playing Madden and come into the real works kiddies.

Who cares... as long as he's not our coach

I wonder how many Bronco's fans said that about Shannahan, and they started off undefeated, and what they was saying then

I think most agree Fox would easily find a job as a Defenisive Coordinator.

I don't think he is a bad coach. Conservative at times, but he believes in his philosophy.

I believe in good defense/running game/throw when you have to type of football.

I think he is the best coach we have ever had.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

I don't think he listens to what the "fans" say all the time which is a good quality in a coach.

I think other than mistakes by certain players we have a very strong team. The shelves aren't bare.

Change at head coach doesn't always fix problem, just like change in FO doesn't either.

It's really, really hard to win a championship in the NFL.

It's hard not to agree with at least most of what your are saying here but Fox has badly underestimated Jake's ability at this stage of his career and will pay the price for it. If Fox had a great QB he would not be so conservative and he would not have more loses that wins. We all know great (even good) QB's are hard to come by and are not cheap. It may take some time before we are were we need to be.

people have been saying that fisher is a great coach for years but what has he really done except keep his job for 16 years?

fox won't get hired as an HC again as quickly as some people think. who is it that teams are hiring these days? it isn't retreads very often. you compare him with cowher, shannahan, holmgren, schotty, and gruden who will probably all be on the market next year and he doesn't stand a chance in the market that is actually looking at retreads. if fisher is on the market at the same time as fox (which is very much a possibility) then fox's chance to score an HC job drops a bit more.

there are probably going to be 8-10 HC changes next year and two thirds of them are going to go to new coaches. there are going to be only 2 or 3 HC jobs going to retreads and probably 10 vying for them. fox doesn't stand much of a chance. he'll go back to being a DC somewhere.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
