If we trade Cam, does that mean we are going after "our guy" in the draft?

Just genuinely curious, because that seems like the only plausible option. If we do trade Cam, and then decide to pull in a guy in FA this fan base may lose their poo. I know I will.

And to add to that we must be thinking of Cam as another means of getting our guy via trading for draft picks. In which case may not be a bad idea if we are talking long term.  And this is assuming logic LOL. If we trade Cam we better get enough out of him to complete the objective.

Also, could we potentially Keep Cam and still be able to negotiate to draft our QB? I don't think so, if we are gunning for burrow.  If we go after a guy Like Tua, or someone that could slip to us then I think we should keep Cam. Let that competition play out, Cam starts rookie learns until Cam proves one way or the other he's the guy.  Potential new Face of the Franchise on a rookie deal, plus our Former MVP andFan favorite Cam Newton playing on a very reasonable contract. Alot if teams have done it this way with a lot success.

Chiefs-Patrick Mahomes after Alex Smith

Packers- Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre

New England-Brady and Multiple capable starters but always stick with Brady(except for this year FINALLY)

Titans- Mariotta and Tannehil.

Baltimore- Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson( and Joe's contract was not reasonable)

Look, to be quite honest I am all for Going after Burrow if that can happen. Why wouldn't you, he would come in off a championship game with LSU, into a starting roll built and tailored around him with a familiar face at OC.  Maybe we could trade Cam and our First Rounder for it who knows. But is that what will happen? I don't think so, Cincy needs more help at QB than us. And I believe that Hometown tie maybe what makes that happen.

And if we can't get Burrow, I don't think Trading Cam and going after the next guy available at QB is a good idea. I see Tua being the only other guy with Hope, but that is all riding on his recovery from hip injury.

I apologize for being so wordy. I like to type my thoughts. And this helps me cope with recent panthers events. So, for that I'm not sorry.

What say you Huddle?

Who would it be? Tua will be gone to Miami and Herbert could go to LA, only way we get them is to move up by dealing picks. To me, you want to have more picks when rebuilding not less.

I honestly don't think they move up for a QB.  If one is there I'm sure there will be some discussion going on in the war room.  If it's not Cam next year it will be Grier or Allen at the helm and they will look for a QB in the draft next year.

I also would not be shocked if they picked up another late round QB either.

Lineman or QB, I get the sense it will be a QB just because of the new regime ect.

As much as I want to see Cam stay and watch him in the Joe Brady offense I think were really need to consider acquiring as many assets and draft capital as we can for either this upcoming 2020 draft with so many glaring holes and needs and then tank for Trevor Lawrence during 2020 season or for 2021 draft so if we need to trade up to get Trevor Lawrence we can!

Who the hell is going to trade out for a quarterback pick?

unless someone thinks Miami is going to take Cam and we take Tua?

then Miami laughs all the way when Cam has 50 touchdowns next year and Tua is in Traction.

Or it could be like this season where Lamar Jackson is probably winning MVP for the Ravens and we all watched Joe Flacco get benched for a rookie QB in Denver.

    • My read is they intended to try and get points but that first run and usage of the clock was done to hedge against things going poorly. Basically they shouldn't need all that time to score since they had multiple timeouts. Dirting that second play put us in a no-win situation. Sure you can run on 3rd down but ARI had timeouts so they still likely get the same result.
    • Anyone catch Adam archuletta referring to him as a “young qb” like bitch this is year three players are in the Super Bowl by now.
    • I never said he had a good game in the Denver game.  As you said we had a good first drive ending in Bryce throwing a slant to XL for a TD.  It was garbage time but the back shoulder throw to Coker for the late TD was a great throw.   Throws like these in bad games are why I say he "can" do it and has the physical tools.  The question is can he do it consistently, continue to improve, grow and become our QB of the future.  Up to this point that was a hard no but with a new head coach and Bryce in his 2nd year it was 100% the right call to play out the year and see if he got better.  He did.   Two games into this year is still more of the up and down quality of play and coaching but there is still plenty of potential and we have 16 more games to decide if it's worth it to continue down this path. I don't know what will happen but I know cutting him or benching him now makes zero sense on any level. I said of those last 10 games we were only blown out in 2 of them.  I'll concede the Denver game was a blow out.  So 3 blowout loses and 7 competitive games, 4 of which we won, all decided by less than a TD.  Sounds like a team growing, improving and getting better.  All I want to do is see where that leads and if those examples of starting NFL level quarterbacking can continue to improve and become more consistent.   Anyone with pride would retire?  Laughable.  Do all of you quit in your daily lives every time things get tough or don't go your way?
