[Rapoport] Panthers Moving RB Coach Jake Peetz To QB Coach

He actually has more experience as a QB coach than he does as a RB coach. He had never previously been a RB coach until we gave him the job. He's previously been a QB coach at Alabama and for the Raiders.

Total of three years, two of which were as an assistant quarterback coach. He has only one year in a full time role.

We interviewed three guys that were far more experienced and had successful track records. Plus the idea of keeping Peetz in the first place was that he was so good with McCaffrey.

This is not a move I understand at all.

I don't care what a guy has done, I care about what he can do. Everyone has to work their way up the ranks. I'd rather have a young, hungry, ambitious guy working his ass off than a retread cashing a check living off of reputation and past successes.

I'm never going to freak out about a position coach hire. The Vince Lombardis of the world aren't pounding down the door begging for a position coach gig. LOL!

You don't understand the move of moving a guy into a position he has more experience.  Specifically with using the RPO?

Like Ken Dorsey?

We could have at least placed a phone call to Jim Caldwell.

I get the impression its more of a staff shuffle to make everyone fit considering the fact that I think Brady will be the *actual* QB coach.

He had to take a medical leave of absence all last season.

Still, he has interest now. There's speculation he could join the Eagles.

Also worth noting: Remember when we hired Lance Taylor and picked McCaffrey?

We just put in a QB coach that has plenty of experience with Tua Tagovailoa.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
