Does your boy think Panthers will consider QB in the first round this draft to learn behind Teddy or does he think we are sold on Teddy being the answer at QB?

He doesn't really have any connections with the Panthers, I have asked him about the QB thing before and he said he does not believe we would be in a position to draft a QB.

I think Burrow and Tua are gone, so unless you're taking Herbert or Love at #7 I just don't see QB as much of a possibility. I definitely do not want Herbert or Love at #7.

I notice a couple guys I'm high on have jumped at least a full round by your board compared to others.

-Gallimore is generally regarded a 2nd rounder and you have him the 21st best prospect

-Chinn is a 3rd/4th on many big boards and you have him at 48.

I like the talent recognition you see in them, but I hope they fall to where some other big boards have them.

Dude I love Gallimore a lot, he reminds me a lot of more twitchy Muhammad Wilkerson. I don't think he escapes the first round.

Chinn and Winfield Jr. are the best kept secrets in this draft

If we pass up a safety this draft I am going to go completely nuts.  It's like how I have been harping since 2016 to draft a day 2 heir apparent to Greg Olsen.  Ironic now, I know.  Boston and Burris are simply plugs so the team can focus efforts elsewhere, but not the building blocks in the secondary we need.  Since Reid has now been released, I'm holding onto a glimmer of hope we still may take a safety in the 3rd or 4th round.  Also, I think Rivera was the one who regarded safeties as non-essential.  Since Ron is out of the picture, we may actually draft a real gem there.

Yeah I knew he didn’t have a connection but being in the league he could have an impression of what goes on around the league better than your average joe fan. Thanks

I wouldn’t rule out a trade up to be honest. Go up to 3-4 to get Tua and then could trade guys like Samuel, KK, Donte, etc. to get some of that draft capital back. Sit Tua under Teddy for a year or even more if necessary, let him learn the ropes. Injuries are a concern, yes, but if we were patient with him he has the intangibles to be one of the best QBs in the league. Not my preference but it’s a possibility.

Also, while I’m not a fan of Herbert at all, Hurney went to his pro day and watched him closely so clearly we’re interested and he can’t be ruled out.

I really like Love also, to sit behind Teddy at first, but wouldn’t spend a 7th overall pick on him. Would love to trade back into the late 1st to get him if he’s hovering around there still. He has Mahomes potential if you ask me, but also Deshone Kiser bust potential. Not a horrible idea to take him late 1st and sit him behind Teddy for a year or two.

But my biggest hope really is just sucking this year and getting Lawrence. Not ruling that out just because of the Teddy signing. Only if we draft a QB early this year will I think Trevor isn’t a possibility.

Verge,

Neville Gallimore, Ross Blacklock or Justin Madubuike. What is your order of those three? What rounds are you hearing they will land in? I personally am not hype with Gallimore. Im big on the Ross Blacklock train. Talk about twitched up. If it wasn't for his injury, I think he would be higher on peoples board. My goal is Simmons RD 1 and Blacklock RD2

1. Gallimore
2. Madubuike
3. Blacklock

I think one of those three will be there with our second pick.

One of those will be our pick if Brown is not our first rounder.   Can't afford to miss out on this level of talent with the massive hole at DT.  I think beyond those guys is a tier down and getting into rotational types.  We need a least one starting DT out of this draft.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
