More stadium talk

I’m convinced Tepper has already secured the Charlotte Foundry property to build his dome. He will then have a sports complex with the current stadium being dedicated to soccer and NFL dome across the street.

You’re convinced because the sale of real property is public record and you have discovered that said property has changed hands but the sale has gone unnoticed and unreported by local media?

Overall I think Panther Stadium is a nice stadium.  It's not one of the new mega places but overall it compares nicely to many of the others stadiums in the NFL.  It is in a great location,  has a lot of suites and a lot of club seats with their own very nice concessions, lounge area.   There is also plenty of room in the corridors to add stuff, and as you can see they're able to make some changes inside the bowl area.  I AM FOR putting a dome on top of the current place, if its something Tepper really wants, etc for all those other reasons he says.  I would love to see some plans or something at least that shows putting some kind of dome, maybe retractable, on the current stadiums is possible.

It’s as if the PANTHERS are the team that re-signed their franchise DE, Tyreek Hill, Frank Clark, et al, played with the best HFA in the NFL in a stadium built in 1972, in a smaller, colder, midwest city, and WON THE SUPER BOWL.

The nightmare reality is THAT team isn’t even seeking a new stadium.

I’m convinced. But I’m not trying to convince you.

They have had casual discussions but any development on the pipe and foundry site is about a decade away.  A lot has to happen, mainly the foundry has to build a new plant somewhere else.

Just speculating but my guess would be CP&F must have long known that moving was eventually going to make sense. The land the foundry sits on is too valuable for industrial use, which needs only reasonable access to major highways for it's logistics. Land on the edge of a growing cities downtown area has value far beyond that. I would not be surprised if the company already has multiple other site options evaluated and may even hold purchase options. They may even already have commissioned plans etc. Even without Tepper specifically, this day was always going to come one way or another for them. Frankly surprised it took this long, but they may have just been content to wait for a lucrative active offer.

I think you’re probably right.

Who the fug are you? The opinion police?

No. I'm a guy who's skeptical of an assertion that they are convinced someone has acquired a piece of property when any such transactions are a matter of public record and the acquiring parties activities are closely followed by the media. Basically if Tepper had bought that land, it would be reported. Unless you have solid evidence to the contrary, your opinion is not likely based on fact but upon an imperfect understanding of how such things work.

Yep, seems as though CP&F's plans to move to Oakboro are 'on hold' from what I've read.
