I don't doubt that Newton wants to stay in Carolina, but here's the thing: You can't stay in Carolina without an extension. So if Newton really wants to stay in Carolina, then guess what?

The bottom line is that the team isn't as committed to Newton as he is to them.

Please provide sources where Cam said he wouldn’t play with an extension. And not random posts on this forum but actual sources.

They at least tried to keep Kemba but are just fuged financially for another year or two because of the Batum contract. They should have known he wasn’t going to take a discount and traded him when they had the chance. Regardless, at least our young players are showing promise and are fun to watch.

Didn't say he wouldn't play without an extension. Said he wanted one and the team wouldn't give one to him.

Your own theory is that Newton wanted to stay here. Given that his contract ended in 2020, how exactly was that supposed to happen without an extension?

Did you think he was going to play without a contract?

All this tells me is he didn’t get an extension...don’t blame him for risking it and don’t blame Panthers for not resigning a huge risk of a QB.

Lol trying to turn it around real quick huh? He plays out the year and bets on himself if he does well we resign if not he probably retires. He never once said he wanted an extension and I’m waiting for you to provide more then people posting on this forum that backs up your claim.

You're trying to say that Newton wanted to continue playing for the Panthers but that he wasn't looking for an extension.

I'm not sure you understand how contracts work.

So $20 mil for a respectable QB when someone like Tannehill is getting near 30 mil.  We could still very well suck and get a top QB next year and as we've been prepping for all offseason, Cam is on his way out.

He has one year left.

Unless you're saying that he only wanted to stay in Carolina for that one year, then he would have needed an extension to stay beyond that.

Therefore, if he "wanted to stay" as you say he did, it would have required a new contract.

That's why you can't say that he wanted to stay but didn't care about an extension. That's like saying a guy wanted to be somebody's husband but didn't want to marry them.

I’m not saying he wouldn’t want an extension but he can always play out this final year all the team had to do was say Cam is our guy. 
 

Why you want to twist and turn poo to fit the narrative you push I’ll never understand. Cam loved the team, city and community but sure guy just wanted out and wouldn’t play without a new 10 year deal, like fug no he never once mentioned anything like that just that he wanted to be a panther whether it be one year or 5 more years.
