we think Greg is very talented and has a good chance to be a very good player, and maybe has some position flexibility.”

That last point could indicate that the Panthers will try Little, who played only left tackle through his entire collegiate career, only practiced (when he wasn’t hurt) at left tackle last season and is a long-legged, long-armed tackle prototype for whom Hurney traded up last spring while touting as a hopeful long-term solution for the Panthers at left tackle, at a different position. Like guard.

SO WE TRADED UP TO 37 LAST YEAR TO SELECT A KID WHO WE ARE GOING TO PLAY AT LG.  AND IS ATROCIOUS AT RUN BLOCKING????  IM SURE CMC IS THRILLED ABOUT THAT.

We traded Erick McCoy (Saints stud C) and Bobby Evans (Rams starting RT and considered G/T pre-draft) for a backup LT who isn’t a fit at G. SMH, last year’s draft was awful and we had an extra 3rd.

If football ops Hurney is the #3 man.

#1 is Tepper.

#2 is Rhule.

#3 is Hurney.

At this point Hurney's role is to gather information for Rhule & Tepper.  Hurndog has no authority to do anything player related without involving Rhule all of the time, and Tepper almost all of the time.

Obviously Hurndog is also functioning as a liaison to outside media, etc as well.

This is a good thing

And true.

It amazes me how many folks think Hurney is running the show -- couldn't be further from the truth.

Hurndog doesn't have the authority to pull the trigger on ANYTHING without the approval of Tepper and/or Rhule.

For those of you who may watch Billions...Tepper is Axe...Rhule is Dollar Bill (a portfolio manager with limited trading authority)...Hurndog is a supporting analyst with no trading authority (unless it is co-brokered with Rhule and doesn't exceed Rhule's size limits).

This is precisely why Tepper has not removed Hurney as the GM, he's a company man who will do whatever Tepper/Rhule tell him to do.

Other GM candidates (Andrew Berry, Cesario in NE) would most certainly want full control.

Yup.

Gathering information, and monetizing said information, are 2 completely different skill sets.

Tepper values Hurndog for the former.

Tepper is worth all that money because he is the best there is at the latter, and, is elite at identifying and empowering great information gatherers.  The combination is lethal.

Add Rhule to the mix and you have a blockbuster trade on the book.

This is fun to watch.

Hurney sucks. He’s constantly outsmarting himself thinking he’s getting one over on the rest of the league. The way he passes on the strength of the draft, trades for lesser prospects, and drafts projects too high infuriates me.

I hope for the sake of Tepper’s investment, he stops meddling and removes Hurney from GM after the draft. Give him whatever title he wants but remove him from any decision making. We’ve missed out on some good candidates because of this nonsense.

You can tell Hurney isn't the ultimate decision maker. He was a Cam guy and would have given him this year. Tepper and Rhule will be making the final choices while Marty just negotiates the draft to get them what they want. How many Temple and Baylor guys have we ever drafted? Yeah well if that changes we know who is pulling the trigger.

I definitely agree .. Marty was forced to give up Cam.. That was mainly a Tepper directive..
