CB Desmond King Potentially Available

Finally, a CB worth our time that would be an exciting addition. 25-years old, $2.5M in 2020, FA in '21.

Some LAC fans would be elated with a 3rd rounder for him. There's also folks linking the Chargers moving up to #3 and the Lions needing a CB since trading away Slay.

Get on it Hurney....send that email back over to LA and make this happen!!

We can still add a quality CB and edge rusher after the draft. Someone like prince amukumara or Everson Griffen who is holding out for a big contract. Even players like Kirkpatrick and Clowney would be good stop gaps till next year. No reason to trade away picks this year.

Read up a little on him. If I'm being honest, he sounds like their version of Donte Jackson.

Interesting. Thought more highly of him than DJax, but I would entrust Charger media and fans more than me having a draft crush on him a few years back.

Still think with his age maybe a change of scenery turns it around for him. He certainly has the tools

I just wish I knew more about Rhule and Snow in terms of what they value in CBs. I don't even know if they plan to run a primarily man or primarily zone based secondary scheme.

Without a hint of understanding on what they want out of their CBs, it's really tough to make a call on any CB, either in the draft or in free agency.

To tell the truth, based on what I've read, it sounds like he started off showing loads of promise then seriously fell off. One piece I read said they were thinking of moving him to free safety.

I won't claim to have watched him, but it sounds like the same story as Jackson, potentially worse.

That’s not necessarily a good thing either. You have to be coachable otherwise you end of up with a whole lot of talent and nothing to show for it.

That's kinda where I'm going.

And if I'm being honest, I'm not entirely comfortable with Donte Jackson being our number one corner this year.

Two Donte Jacksons? Oy...

I’ve been preaching for quite some time that he would make sense for trade bait if you’re looking for a semi fresh start with the franchise. Do you really want him being one of the few “vets” left?

He didn't seem receptive to coaching under Rivera and his assistants.

Will it be different with Matt Rhule, Phil Snow and Evan Cooper? No idea.

You’d have to think for as much of a “players coach” Rivera is that maybe if it didn’t work under his leadership then who could make it work?

    • Some people have been beaten down so long they have no standards. Can't be reasoned with.
    • Getting better, might be fairly charitable. We finished 1-3 with the pressure on. That is for sure not trending up.  I don’t see a clear run of performances that prove he has taken it to another level. Not yet.  I would say he played really well in the WC game. And folded on that last series where we still had a chance. I think he threw one good ball. That last series is the kind of thing a player is supposed to learn from and not repeat. We have to see him do it before we can credit him for doing it.    I would also say he has not done enough of playing at his ceiling and what we should expect as the game in game out norm is still not established.  We gonna get MNF in SF or we gonna get the WC game? Seattle or Atlanta yardage record?   Besides that he has three years of horrendous play to start the season hanging over him. Are we going to get that again or will he be over that? We can’t know that. Mind you, that isn‘t two of three it is three of three he has yet to play well to start the year as a pro. Ofer.    So, many questions remain.    As far as weapons and help… said it before. Fix the OL so we can protect him.  It is time for a 1.1 pick in his 4th season, third year in the same offense, to elevate the players we have given him. You can’t keep up the level of investment dedicated to propping him up, you have to prop up the defense too and get some balance.
    • Yeah, just got back to the house from doing some actual work, hopefully they create some better chances in the second half. 3-1 looks tough for you
