Derrick Brown.. Its something about that Bama program where players come out not ready for the pro's or beat up their 1st few years in the league.

The game is a lot easier when you are on a team with a two deep filled with 4 and 5 star talent. Alabama wins most games by being way more talented than the team in front of them. That rarely happens in the NFL.

Yeah, I think it's that. Football is tougher when you're not better than your team isn't more talented than your opponent at nearly every position.

The margins in college football are usually huge. The margins in the NFL are often minuscule.

This is foolish.. quinnen Williams was much more gifted than brown which is why he went much higher. Brown isn't the same caliber athlete as Williams. Brown might be better as a run stuffer.. but its not that big of a gap in their ability to get to the passer.. williams dwarfs brown in that area.. Give me Williams.

Comparing relative draft position in two different drafts is foolish.

While he probably won’t go as early in the draft, multiple NFL scouts told AL.com that they think Brown is an even better player than Quinnen Williams was coming out of Alabama last year.

Williams was the No. 3 overall pick in last year’s draft.

“If you want to make comparisons, most people think he’s better than Quinnen because he’s a bigger, more powerful man,” one NFL evaluator said. “And he’s got another year of seasoning under his belt coming into the NFL versus Quinnen who was very young. So I think people believe he’s a little bit more of a sure bet than Quinnen was last year. There aren’t a lot of flaws with him.”

I seen the two compared and it made my brain heat up some. Cause Im not a brown at #7 supporter...... BUT I think he is better than Q.Williams, whom went 3rd overall. I know its a different draft and all, but I thought others would get in discussion on this. Williams did test better, nearly everyone thats been tested has.  It had me like larry david

Everyone talks about how well Quinnen Williams tested, but he basically just ran a fast 40 for a DT. 4.82 is FAST for a DT. But his vertical was only 3.5" higher than Brown's. His broad jump was only 4" longer. Those were the only three drills he did. Meanwhile, Brown is 2" taller and over 20 pounds heavier.

This debate is getting stupid..

Ppl just don't want a DT so they make poo up to discredit Brown...

    • Zavala was really bad his first year but I think he can still flash that unfortunately. Coaching? IDK. Inconvenience seems to be common.  Moton should just have played the year out to see what's what or they should have replaced him, whixh is a tall order for a team with so much else needing done. I just thought the reworked deal was dumb. Get cap but create another issue later. Just eat it and move on. I do think they were trying to create space for someone else but that's also a huge negative for me because the 'one player away mentality' has always been a failure that I can remember. Corbett was a known health issue, a waste of roster space really. BC has had a fractured ankle and a torn bicep so he isn't a huge shocker either, unlucky or injury prone at this point? Add in Moton and that unit was always suspect. Having both high priced OGs dealing with injuries 1 year removed from their big deals just seems like the chefs kiss to that entire build. So 2 known injury issues with starters, a backup that's probably injury prone now, Mays and then nobodies. I don't think I can call that decent depth, especially considering the 2 known starter issues coming into the year.
    • Just imagine how great it will be when they eventually expand the playoff to 24 teams, or more. There will still only be 3 or 4 teams that have a real chance of winning the national championship, but the money-making opportunity will be too irresistible.
    • Trading Hubbard should be a decision made based on the "future" of the team. If they deem Rico a wiser investment, long term, Hubbard is expendable. If they deem Hubbard the wiser investment, long term, Rico is expendable. That doesn't mean they should have a price that is less than acceptable, however.
