A want to say one of the CBs, but Josh Jones is tempting.

Its not often that value seems to line up with a LT pick.  Might not be our biggest need this season but give it time.

Also, one of the WRs might be tempting.  Mims, Pitman, or Shenault.

I like our first pick a lot but at the same time it would be nice to have an extra second right now.

Josh Jones, Ezra Cleveland too.

I fear we go Lenoir Rhyne (Duggar) or Baylor (mims)

I want to go DE, CB.

If we go WR, then he better be able to cover Julio Jones.

I like Mims or Shenault if one of McKinney, YGM, or Epenesa isn't there. If we're going to suck, might as well put up some points doing it.

I like the "If YGM or Epenesa" isn't there---we have to hope one falls 6 spots.  I want a CB or trade back.

38.  Carolina:  Yeter Gross-Matos, DE.  A solid second round choice that meets a need.  Why not go CB? I really wanted Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah but he played through a 2018 injury in 2019 and had shoulder surgery AFTER the combine.  That is likely to scare teams off—he could drop, and maybe this is too high for him for that reason.  Maybe we should take Fulton, Diggs, or Dantzler—not at 38:  If we trade back, we probably lose Gross-Moss.  Take YGM, then find a way back up into the late second round for that CB.  Trade the 3rd, 4th, and a 5th.  If we walked away with a CB, DT, and DE on days 1 and 2, I would call whatever happens with the second 5th, 6th, and 7th a win. Mims at WR is another option.

Please celebrate my guessing.

This is probably why they targeted Amik Robertson as a prospect.  Likely knew they wanted to go DL with the first two picks.  Robertson is a 3rd round guy.

Dantzler could drop---I am worried about CB.

Didn't he have a really slow 40 time?

I think 4.6 or something--Norman did  as well.  Plays faster,

Chinn is still there, Fulton, and some other good players---like the LB from Wisconsin, Davis (S) from Cal---there are some players.

I think Center is looking good too.

Dantzler was a great cb in the SEC. Very disruptive.

Are you a wizard? You even guessed trading back into late second round for secondary help!

I am guessing out my arse.  But when we moved back, I had Chinn as the second name on my big board for round 3--so if the Panthers did, and they liked Chinn, they would have moved back it to get him. I am just getting lucky.

45catfan and I are on the same page.  He and I liked Chinn, if I recall correctly.

    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh?
    • That is literally what I am talking about. Those were 53 man cuts. Not at the beginning of camp.  I would say the odds of Barno being back are extremely thin.
