Question part deus...

WOW!!

Who is the leader of the defense??

No Luke, No TD no Mario..

Who right now is the actual leader of the defense..

1. Shaq - got the contract and learned under Luke and TD..

2. KK - oldest tenured player..

3. Tre Boston- right now he is swagger spokesman and attitude setter of the secondary and maybe defense... He made his opinions known all draft weekend.. And I bet contacted all the young secondary players..

4. Tahir Whitehead - probably MLB starter probably will get the headset and is known for giving out pre game speeches and pumping up players on the sidelines...

Who you got??

Don't get it twisted just because he was hurt last season, KK is a natural leader! His absence was profound last season! Not enough people talk about or appreciate that!

It pretty funny to me that some fans still think Short is going to be a part of this team’s future. The only reason why he is still here is because we can’t cut or trade him. The man has quit playing hard since his big pay day.

And yet, when you look at 2018, he was still rated as a top five DT in the league depending upon who you believe! He was certainly top 10 on any list!

I 100% reject the weak, pretty much baseless narrative that he quit playing once he got paid! Did his game take a little stumble? Sure! Was he awful or even JAG? Not by a long shot!

This proves my point! Even PFF had Short ranked highly as a DL going into 2019.

I mean, if you are going to decide that he's trash based upon the last season where his entire cast of supporting characters took a dip due to the 3-4 transition debacle, and discount the impact of his injury, then be my guest! All I know is things fell apart precipitously when he went on IR.

Like I said, context matters!

Shaq may end up the vocal leader he was groomed under TD and Luke he knows what it takes. But make no mistake KK is the leader of this defense and a healthy KK can be counted on to make a play when needed you see he was excited about the draft he’s gearing up to play. I see why Top got so mad it’s basically disrespectful to a players hard work and what he wants for his career to say oh he stopped after he got paid so he doesn’t have fire? He’s gonna bumble and fumble through this season with all these professionals hungry dogs just because he’s gotten one good contract? Naw some people want rings accolades achievements to actually leave a legacy and this rhetoric that he quit makes no sense because his pff grade changed some. You need talent and GOOD SCHEMES to be a successful football player.

Edit: I just read they above honestly context matters, I’m still hype off the draft so I’ll have to respond to people spewing out bs football talk.

What’s his sack # since 2015?

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
