NFL to have Saturday games if there is no college football

Most of the owners own their stadiums don’t they?

I'm reading only four teams own their own stadiums.  The other 28 rent.  Even Jerrah's Palace of Excess is owned by the city of Arlington, not him.

I thought it was closer to 50/50, myself.

Thursday games should be banned

Agreed but Saturday games are two days from Thursday games. That's why it's dildos. It's like watching a college game Monday night.

The NFL used to play a couple Saturday games the last couple of weeks of the season, after the college season was over.  They went away from it and then have returned to it the last couple of seasons.

From a numbers perspective, if there is no CFB season, it probably makes sense.  Most households generally watch one game at a time (some avid fans may have more than one on with the right cable package, or watch the rolling cuts from one game to another).  Giving them five or six time slots over the weekend instead of three most likely increases viewership overall.  I don't see a problem with it, and the networks will be searching hard for something to fill the gap, if it comes to that.

I might watch more only based on the fact that the increased time slots would have to mesh with times in the weekend I have nothing better to do and nothing better to watch.  But then again, I don't watch any college football on Saturdays as it is, so there might not be an increase in the Schultz household, either.

You mean like Thursday games have? Seriously how many more games do you need after Sunday early, late, and night, then Monday games. Adding Saturday to the mix just means less excitement on Sunday. Not to mention it makes available time for the wives to expand the honeydo list.

I don't like Thursday games, either.  IF the Panthers are on Thursday night, I'll watch it.  Otherwise, if I am watching sports on Thursday night it is the NHL (beginning in October).

Monday night games are pretty unappealing to me, too.  Years ago, MNF was an event.  But then again, there were three major networks at the time, no cable, and maybe a local station or two.  So what it was competing with was usually a sacrificial show on the other networks.  Now MNF it is more like a hangover.  Again, IF the Panthers are on, I'll watch it.  Otherwise, I can get all I need about it by checking the score the next day.

I'm only slightly more interested in Sunday night games, and I rarely watch those, either.

Even Sunday afternoons are more like a break from other things for me, unless I have absolutely nothing else to deal with.  Even is my wife is out on a Sunday, watching a game will depend on who is on (how interesting the game promises to be).  If it is the Jets and Browns, I'll find something else to do with my time.  Saturday afternoon games would follow that pattern for me.

When it got to the point of having the referee announce, "after further review and consulting a mechanical engineer and two physicists, we've determined the receiver did not have control of the ball" they lost me.  My interest in watching it has only slightly returned since they simplified that mess of a rule.

As a strictly nfl football fan, I'd be happy with Saturday night, Sunday night, and Monday night prime time game slots with Sunday 1 and 4 est games as normal.  However I know that for me to have that it fugs over college football fans.

fug Thursday football.
