Name one person here who “wanted” Boston. And with the way we played it did not matter one bit. Philly, TB and the Caps all would’ve beaten us.

I said specific to this thread? Lots of fans outside this small discussion.

Kungfoodude already said he did. You yourself wanted to "get them out of the way early"  who says we would have had to play them at all? Getting to and winning the cup isnt always about the best team in terms of talent. Its more about matchups, injuries, timing, getting hot etc. That goes across all sports. We dont know how we would have fared against the others. We did beat the caps last year. So who knows how those series would have played out. We wont because we got the B's early and out of the way at least.

We avoided a sweep this year so I guess thats something. Guess all the fans who wanted Boston so badly and said it didn't matter got what they wanted...... another exit from the playoffs!  We took out the caps and swept the islanders last year before being swept by Boston in the conference finals. We just dodged a sweep this year by one win. Not all matchups are equal and barely getting one win between two playoff series shows that.  The poor officiating argument doesn't really help the reasoning why some would want to play them so badly either. Clearly, playing them matters. It is what it is but just makes me laugh how the ones who were all bring them on are now crying foul.

It reminds me of when Alabama squeaked into the top 4 for the 2017 season. Clemson fans were bragging about the tide not deserving to be there and to bring them on. Seeing them cry after losing and watching Bama grab the championship was pretty sad.

Acting like officiating isn't a factor is stupid. Without blatant one-sided officials, the series would still be going.

I’ve seen nobody outside of kungfoodude who actually actively said before the playoffs started that they wanted the Bruins in the first round. I said that once we already knew we were playing them and I stand by it. You have to go up against great teams in the playoffs. If it wasn’t now it would’ve been a round or two later. Either way this team wasn’t doing much. The Lightning and Flyers are better than the Bruins and would have done away with us. Caps maybe not but with the way we played this series there’s a good chance we would’ve lost. Last year has nothing to do with it, our roster is so much different. Bruins aren’t a bad matchup at all. Lightning and Flyers are worse. We got beat because our team right now is young and we lack finishers and have poor goaltending. No different playoff matchup changes any of that, except when we went against bottom 10 team in the league in the Rangers. Fact is, we’re not there yet. Very close with a ton of great young pieces and prospects as well as room to make soon moves but there’s no argument that can be made that if we didn’t play the Bruins we could’ve won the cup. It wasn’t happening this year.

Welcome to Carolina sports? Are the teams here known for getting favorable calls? Especially against beloved Boston sports teams? We literally had a qb have his head knocked off while the nfl laughed. More reason to have seen a team like Boston knocked out by another and not had to play them. Im sure we'll send in a complaint about it like thatll do anything

How we matchup was more than difficult enough to overcome either way.

You said name one person and a person responded before I even finished so lol. Glad youre standing by your wish to get knocked out by the Bruins early, definitely worked out for us. Once again, we dont know how we would have played the others. Saying all series are played equally or that it wouldnt have mattered regardless of the teams makes zero sense. Boston has had our number recently, big time. The ref factor doesnt help but thats the fun of being a Boston team in sports.

As t96 has said before, the Canes are still a couple players away from being a very good hockey team. This experience will serve the team well going forward, but the team was simply not good enough to beat Boston this year.

That being said, a couple guys really stepped up in the post-season. Dzingel, Martinook and Neces all played up and a couple of the new guys showed themselves as well- Skiel, Trocheck and Vatanene.

But one guy stood out- Morgan Geekie- a rookie who got on the roster late season and really showed he can skate with the big boys. I think the kid is going to be special.

Is Justin Williams coming back or does he hang up the skates?

I think a huge deal for us this series was not having Edmonson. We just didn’t have that big bodied defense man to counter some of the poo Boston did.

I hope Williams comes back for one more. But I don’t know how much he has left in the tank honestly.
