What are you looking forward to in our week one match up?

For most, the expectations in terms of wins this season are low for the Panthers.

So, if you're not necessarily expecting wins, what is going to make you tune in?

My top 5...

1. Derrick Brown. This is THE guy I wanted in the draft. IMO, this guy can be Kris Jenkins minus the conditioning issues that likely heavily (pun fully intended) contributed to the knee injuries that derailed his career.

2. Joe Brady. We all saw what his offense did at LSU. A team known for playing great D with just enough offense to scrape by suddenly overnight fielded one of the most prolific offenses college football has ever seen. One thing to note though that I'm not sure many fans are aware of is that while it was Brady's offense at LSU, he wasn't the actual play caller on game day. So what we saw was his offense but not him actually running it on a play by play basis.

3. Rhule and the rest of the staff. I just want to see how well they have the team prepared under very difficult circumstances and how they handle in-game coaching, halftime adjustments, etc. My main concern is Snow. I hope I'm wrong but I just have a feeling he's going to be in over his head at the NFL level and if he's in over his head with this defensive roster our D has the potential to be all-time bad.

4. CMC. Hey, he's always fun to watch.

5. Jeremy Chinn. How are we going to use this guy? Very intriguing physical talent.

Good thread.

1. I am excited that there is a NFL season first and foremost. I won't be taking any game for granted.

2. Not having to watch the same coaching mistakes and catch phrases over and over again. At the very least we get new mistakes and catch phrases.

3. I think Brian Burns has a breakout year and could be pro bowl bound.

For sure. Yeah, you're right about Burns. I definitely look forward to seeing him on D again vs. running down punts.

1. Joe Brady's offensive system (going to make the last decade of Panthers offenses feel like mud.

2. How DJ Moore looks in Brady's offense, that is a WR freindly system.  Brady worked with the WRs in New Orleans (see Michael Thomas) and some with the QBs, also was the WR coach at LSU last year which were explosive.

3. Brown- will be nice to push in the middle.

4. Chinn he Chess piece

I'm looking forward to watching Red Zone. I love the fact we basically have a whole new defense, and a whole new regime. While the team in general will be hard to watch, I'm excited about where we're headed for once. I want long term success. Not hey guys, we're good this year. But, next year? Na, we're trash.

Sustained success? For the Panthers? Now that's just crazy talk.

Which Olinemen are future material and which are not. Daley and Moton specifically.

Moore to take that next step...along with Samuel.

Chinn, so intriguing. How are we using him and where is he at in his game.

Can Thomas become a contributor or will he be stuck behind Manhurtz.

I hope to see Little get a shot at LT at some point this season. Nothing against Okung, we just gotta figure out the future of LT (something we've been saying for literally a decade now) and he ain't it.

If Thomas gets stuck behind Manhertz, it's time for us to just move on and admit that TE is a huge need for us.

That's what the richest Owner in the NFL believes we can do. I believe him, yo! HAHA.

Speaking of, since you have your head on straight. Some QB's in College to look out for (this weekend) in case we're "too good" to pickup one of the big names (Fields & TL) early next year.

Spencer Rattler. OU's new QB. Supposedly, he's Mahomes like. Very confident, and has the weapons to succeed. Should be available in the 2022 Draft.

Sam Howell-I loved watching Howell last year, and UNC returns a lot of talent on offense. But, I feel their defense is so bad, we will see how good the offense has to be. If he's in shootout games, I believe he has the moxie to lead UNC over opponents in the fourth quarter.

Brock Purdy-Love his game. Iowa State's weapons are better this year, and I believe Purdy is an absolute stud. He needs to put up better numbers to be considered a fringe first rounder though.

Sam Ehlinger-Yeah, not a fan of this guys game. His downfield accuracy is anemic most of the time, and Texas always has a ton of weapons and has under performed with him at QB. If he's mediocre again this year, his Draft stock will tumble like it did last year.

@Jeremy Igo Would it make sense to make a CFB QB thread every week with potential QB's for us? And update their stats? Would make sense for the next two seasons.

Oh, I'm very excited to watch Howell this season. He's one of the best deep ball throwers I've ever seen, period. As for the 4th quarter, PFF's highest graded offensive player in the 4th quarter in college football last year was... Sam Howell. Now take that for what it's worth as I think PFF's ratings are iffy at best. I see a lot of Mahomes in Howell, specifically his ability to make big time throws from crazy angles on the move - just making the types of throws that coaches specifically tell you NOT to try. It takes special talent to pull it off. There's a reason why coaches coach against it.

Yeah, when Howell runs though it looks like he's running in slow motion. LOL. He's athletic enough to get to the spot he needs to get to, though.

Mahomes is a 4.8 guy himself. You don't necessarily have to be fast to be an effective scrambler to throw. I think Mahomes is probably faster than Howell, but probably not dramatically faster. Howell has been talking about wanting to run more this season. Yeah... I don't know about all that. LOL!
