The last time the Saints lost...

I'm still a bit skeptical of the Saints. Teams like them always tend to get tripped up when it matters. The "favorites" don't always make it to the Super Bowl in the NFC (08 Cardinals, 07 Giants, 03 Panthers)

They look pretty good, but I don't think they would be able to beat the big boys in the post-season. They played well against the Falcons, but Matt Ryan gave them that game. I remember a few years back when they had that magical run after Hurricane Katrina. They looked for real back then too, only to lose to almighty Rex Grossman and the Bears when it truly mattered.

The Saints are 1 of 7 teams to never play in the Super Bowl. I think it will stay that way going into 2010.

I remember the 2006 season when the Saints went to the playoffs and lost to Rex and the Bears, they also lost to the Panthers twice that season even though they were the better team. The Saints started the season off 3-0 until they played the Panthers and they lost their 1st game. Jake not only does good against the Saints, only losing to them twice while starting as the Panthers QB, but both the Panthers losses with Jake to the Saints it was by only 3 points. Jake's overall record against the Saints is 8-2, not shabby at all. Jake has never lost while playing in their house, which will be the case this Sunday. Whether Matt could do better than Jake this season as QB, I don't know, but against the Saints, especially in their house, I'm a 100% sure I'd go with Jake.

hmmmm, last week we broke the curse of the arizona cardinals and the interceptron... maybe we can break the curse of the undefeated saints this week and set the universe back in order :D

Using that logic, I think it bodes better for New Orleans.

We got beat by Arizona in our last game of the 2008 season, only to come back and beat them last week.

New Orleans got beat by us their last game of the 2008 season, and now perhaps come back to beat us?

;)

If we play like we did last week, I think we can hang with any team in this league. Well, provided Delhomme can at least complete some passes here and there.

    • yeah, now it's going to get awkward.  The team circles pay attention to all this stuff.  All the wives and girlfriends see the posts.  They all talk like everyone.  Football is just a normal world outside of the fact they play a game for lots of money.  Gossip travels. They know the Theilen's want out at this point.  Carolina is now the disappointed failed trade location.    So now AT takes sort of an inhouse hit in Carolina IMO
    • Ummm... The dude looked like he was about 180 pounds soaking wet with us (I don't care what his listed weight was/is) - he would have been destroyed in the run game even more than our current and past crappy ILBs. The problem is we primarily play 3-4 or nickel/dime - there is little room on the field for him because he isnt an edge LB blitzer and he can't cover for crap. The only thing he can do kind of well is be an in-the-box safety that can try and beat blockers to the spot because of his athleticism. Washington was able to make him work last year because they used him solely as an in-the-box safety and almost exclusively ran a single high FS. The funny thing is they had good yards/game stats against the pass despite most of their secondary having embarrassingly low PFF grades. Washington was also terrible against the run, which might explain why they gave up so few yards passing.
    • Just get the deal done. We've teased it so much that the Thielen's expect it. Now we run the risk of our veteran WR locker room presence becoming disgruntled. Just take what we can get, make him happy, and get future assets while freeing up snaps for guys who will be here beyond this season.
