This thread aged well. Lol

Not that I want to go to bat for Nick Mullens, because this wasn't what this thread was supposed to be about...  Rather, I was simply stating he showed great potential for a young QB in limited action and could be a good guy to bring into the fold regardless of what our future plans at QB are - be it Teddy or a draft pick.  But, of course, huddle has to huddle so this became, "herp derp, you said you wanted nick mullens over teddy."

So let's look at where they both were as rookies...  again, one guy was a FA and the other a 1st round pick.  Also, the game Nick just got yanked in was no worse than the game Teddy just had against Tampa.  Difference is, one is making 24M, the other 750k.  Again, I think it was a fair comparison.

Teddy was leading the Minnesota Vikings to a division title and a playoff berth in his 2nd season. But yea he compares to Nick Mullens haha..

You’re assuming we will win 6-8 more games this year. We can go 1-15 and still get Lawrence. Hell, 4-12 gets you Fields. There’s no way we win more than 4 just looking at our schedule.

We'll win six or more games. Just watch.

I guess the first few games of Allen last season didn't teach people to not fall in love with QB's with small sample sizes...

Lol, Mullens is NOT Kyle Allen.  Allen throws the ball well but has absolutely no ball security and possibly the worst pocket awareness I have ever seen.  And I was very vocal about my lack of belief in Allen very early on.

Fixed it for you.

That's bull! Teddy's experience in Minnesota was far from perfect. His line absolutely stunk (Football Outsiders & PFF will confirm), and his receivers weren't doing him many favors either. I am too lazy to search for the article I posted here weeks ago, but here is another one.

People intimating that Teddy had some great situation and was carried to the offseason simply don't know what they're talking about, and aren't being subtle with their agenda to get rid of Bridgewater at all costs, even at the cost of the truth.

I am not totally sold on Teddy because of his lack of arm, but he's a good QB who is fortunately working off the rust. Ball security is improving and getting to where we thought it would be, and we're winning. He's been a major factor in those wins, so stop talking about the guy like he's chopped liver. It's not very football smart!

Remember when Matt Flynn stepped in for Aaron Rodgers and threw for like 500 yards and 6 TDs then the Seahawks signed him to a big contract only for him to immediately get beat out by a 3rd round pick named Russell Wilson afterwards he was barely heard from again? Yeah, backup QBs having short-term success isn't exactly unheard of.

I made a thread detailing all the stuff he had to deal with in Minnesota...

Helps give you a better understanding of why his oh so important box score stats looked the way they did

Truth be told, my standing on Teddy is similar to yours, but the huddle doesn't operate in reasonable middle grounds, but rather extremes.  This thread went left...  I am not sold on Teddy either, but he has turned it on the last couple of games.  This thread was simply presenting an option in a guy who could be brought in, who has starting experience, and for the most part has played well.  It's not proclaiming Mullens a franchise QB.  It's not proclaiming Mullens to even be a sure-fire starter, or even better than Teddy...  I simply presented the idea of bringing in a guy as another option if Teddy didn't pan out.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
