New PFF Mock (Interesting Panthers Pick, new QB in top-15)

They have us at 5 which I think may be our highest possible spot (maybe 3 or 4):

5. CAROLINA PANTHERS — LB MICAH PARSONS, PENN STATE

The Panthers could use talent at pretty much any level of their defense, and you won’t find a more talented linebacker than Parsons. He’s as complete a linebacker prospect as we’ve ever graded at the college level.

Another notable change, a new QB name in the top-15:

15. LAS VEGAS RAIDERS QB KYLE TRASK, FLORIDA

If the Raiders miss the playoffs for the third straight season under head coach Jon Gruden, you can bet all options will be on the table at the quarterback position. Trask seems like just the type of pocket passer Gruden craves, and if he plays as he did in Week 1 for the rest of the season, the Raiders will have to trade up for him. He had four big-time throws in a superb 416-yard passing day against Ole Miss.

Now I put my name behind this Florida kid the other day.  He may be a flavor of the week but I like everything I read.  Overall, I think there are 3-4 non-Fields/Lance QBs to track this season as their progression/growth could put them in our favor/shine a new light.  I think these guys have legit starting QB potential.  Especially considering who is currently starting around the league.  Don't forget how Burrow and others have seemed to go from typical SEC Joey High School QB to legit NFL talent in a year's time.

Names (They could legit rocket into R1 by year's end):

Kyle Trask, Florida, 6'5 240

I think Dan Mullen is a fine coach that grooms QBs quite well.  This is a different Florida than in years past with Meyer, etc.

What he needs to work on: Mechanics, using his arm strength, leading receivers a bit more.  Has a lot of intangibles and the size+arm strength is there, it's about utilization and efficiency.  Think a tad slower Josh Allen.

Sam Ehlinger, Texas, 6'3 230

Hot name of the week for leading a furious comeback but for a reason.  His biggest hurdle is controlling his intermediate accuracy but he is a scrappy, leader, playmaker.  He makes up for his average arm strength being very smart at anticipation.  If he can get his accuracy under control, could be a legitimate starting QB.

Tanner Morgan 6'2 216

Decent size, a winner, mobility, good zip on his intermediate throws.  His release is lightning quick, and I mean lightning quick.  Efficiency and accuracy has improved but he tends to get a bit gunslinger-ish.  The pedigree, ideal size, and schools the other top-QBs are coming from sets him back and he's had both Bateman and Tyler Johnson as his receivers, but I see something really interesting in Morgan.   Depending on resuming play, I could see a monster year really bringing his stock up.  Could return next year but if he has a good enough season should probably capitalize and opt for the big leagues.

KJ Costello, 6'5 222 Miss State

I threw him on because of his first week.  Being in a Leach offense, his stat lines will definitely be magnifying his hype.  Not sold, but another one to watch.

I think he's more of a 2nd-4th rounder.

Not putting much stock in Jamie Newman or Kellen Mond (especially).  Very meh for me, far behind in development as NFL passers.

I would bet dollars to donuts that TL says hell to the no to the Jets especially if Gase is still there.  I would bet anything.

Let's say the NYG end up #1 with Barkley out.  What is Daniel Jones realistically worth if they go Lawrence? Same with Darnold.  Is he a decent QB getting broken by Gase and a terrible team?

Not saying for us to trade for but in general.  If Jones continues to show regression, with a Gettleman assembled offense (Lol at their receivers, eerily similar), DG is gone, Jones is traded, Trevor is a NYG.

I havent seen much of Jones.  Seems like a good athletic kid in a bad situation.  From the little I have seen he looks like a deer in the head lights and holds the ball way too much and makes some crazy throws when under pressure.  I would much rather take a flyer on Darnold if thats the route we go, which I hope it isnt.  Darnold has talent but has been surrounded by idiot coaches.

I wish someone could explain to me what Daniel Jones ever did to deserve to be drafted where he was.

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
