Teddy didn't get the memo

Apparently TB didn't get the memo that he was suppose to be a "bridge QB".

We might end up losing the next 12 games and get the no1 pick (I doubt it) and at that point Teddy will become a "bridge" QB, but can people now admit that the front office didn't view Teddy as a purely "bridge QB?

His contract alone should have told people that, but either they couldn't understand that or they were just unwilling to accept it.  This coaching staff/front office believes they can win with Teddy and that is why they paid as much as they did.  They might turn out to be wrong but that is an entirely different discussion.

I’m not a fan of Teddy as the future but the man does just keep on winning by doing what’s asked of him. If Delhomme can take this franchise to a Super Bowl appearance, Teddy can. We have a top 10 offense right now. Rhule and Brady are geniuses. We don’t need a QB anymore.

Which is why he likely is just a bridge QB. We can draft a guy this year or next and let him sit behind Teddy for a year.

Varking is a Teddy hater. Go root for someone else.

Me not believing he’s a franchise QB yet four games into his tenure doesn’t make me a hater. Further, I’ve been around for Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen. I can absolutely be a fan of the Panthers while being supremely skeptical of the QB. You’re an absolute idiot if you believe you have any influence over me being a fan or not.

Drew Brees was supposed to be a bridge for the Saints. He’s going into the HOF now

And I’ll eat crow when he’s performing at a HOF level. Until then it’s silly to compare him to a HOF QB.

Teddy's Stats extrapolated over 16 games

4588 pass yards 16 tds 12 int

280 rush yards 4  tds

Passing Yards would have been ranked 5 last year.  Touchdowns would be ranked 25 last year.

If he could get a few more touchdowns it would look a lot better, I think he is trending that way

It was always pretty obvious the Panthers plan was to win with Bridgewater and they also will draft a QB next season in the first round if there’s one they really like when it’s their pick.

Plenty of times a team drafts a QB they really like when they have a solid starter like Bridgewater on their roster.

Unless he lights the world on fire the rest of the year he is absolutely a bridge QB. That doesn’t mean he’s trash, it just means they would have found out he’s not a franchise carrier.

I'm not saying he is or isn't.  My point was that the team thinks he has the chance to be one.

A lot of posters around here were of the opinion that he was only signed to be a bridge QB, but his contract said otherwise.

I believe you’re also missing four lost fumbles to that over 16 games, but otherwise perfect work.

He has a chance for sure. I don’t think the contract restricts them. 21 mil isn’t a ton for a QB anymore and we have a lot of cap space opening up.

Do you remember Rodney Peete? How about Steve Beuerlein?

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
