Had we had an owner at the top who had done actual research on the Panthers, Marty Hurney, and Ron Rivera...and done the correct thing when he purchased the team, we are likely in a better spot today.  Leaving Marty in charge was about the last thing I would expect a smart person to do.

 

Marty was never in charge of anything after Tepper bought the team.

I had no problem with that approach IF that was the approach taken. In hindsight that would have been wise. I've said on his here site that they should have played Cam in the preseason and worked out a trade. We may have gotten a better draft pick and not paid a guy a lot of money to get us worse draft position. Unless you're trying to win. Which they were. Then they weren't.

It was the right call to let go of Cam when we did.  It was also the right call to go with who we had under contract at that time, and to not sign any (many) free agents.

We made the right move, in terrible fashion, then made the wrong move with the 2nd part...in terrible fashion.

Were still a dumb team then...
