Jameson's Whiskey

I had this long condescending response explaining the malting process and its use in the production of the various types of Irish whiskey but decided that I didn't need to be a dick about it.

Instead Ill say this...

I drink Irish whiskey when I want whiskey that doesn't taste like it was strained through a handful of peat moss. Single malts are , in my opinion, the Irish version of scotch and if I wanted scotch there are far better bottles that the best single malt Irish whiskey.

Practically all irish whiskey contains at least a blend of malted and unmalted barley. Single malted simply means its all malted barley

Also Most irish whiskey does not use peat smoke in the malting process

I'll take good irish whisky over most blended scotches, every day.

It was the Irish monks that brought their method of making whisky to Scotland.

Biggest difference, Scotland doesn't have a lot of trees.

Anybody that drinks Johnny Walker, feels they know good whisky, really are drinkers that haven't even begun to try good scotch.

next time someone wants a neat of some good whiskey, if the bar has it, i put all my pie on it:  Middleton's.  It may cost you up to $25 or as low as $15(it's usually $25 up here in nyc) but you wont look at anything else like you do now.  Of course, that's like getting bumped up to first class from coach for the first time, you may never want to fly coach again, but it's a risk worth taking.  My favorite Jameson I got in Ireland, and it seems the 10 year aged wouldnt be as good as the 12 or 18, but if you are over there, give it a try.  We thought it was as good as any.  Another one is Green Spot, Yellow Spot and I think Red Spot.
