Just curious. How do you feel about Sammy's vs Teddy's deal?

Darnold has more physical talent but Teddy is the far smarter QB. If you could combine the best assets of both you'd have an elite NFL QB, unfortunately alone they're both trash. Sorry.

Agreed as it goes to the issue of intellect.

The more I think about it the more I think this might turn out to be an asset-gathering masterstroke by Tepper...

...think about it.

I think so. Then you start Darnold until the rookie is ready.

All 3 top-10 QB picks last year started pretty much straight away with the exception of Tua and even he started in game-7...

...you really think Tepper makes a deal that puts 2 veteran round-1 draft-pick QB's on the roster and then wastes a top-10 pick on another one??

I think the deal is a good one and a smart gamble by our front office.

3 Questions

1. Who was the head coach for the Miami Dolphins when Ryan Tannehill was their QB?

Answer Adam Gaze

2. Who was the head coach for the NY Jets when Sam Darnold was their QB?

Answer Todd Bowles 2018/ Adam Gaze 2019-2020

3. What happened to the QB for the Miami Dolphins, when Gaze was the head coach, once he was traded to Tennessee?

Answer Pro Bowl level QB.

I'll take my chances that Gaze had more to do with Darnold's failures and that lightning will strike twice once Darnold leaves NYJ.

Excuse me Frank Reich but we're going to borrow your old number.

Possible that other teams had this plan as well.  Maybe we overpaid, but maybe that was the price for closing the deal now.

There was an absolute floor in regards to the price of the deal. Darnold had compensatory pick value for the Jets. The price might have been lower after the draft, however.

I don't think there would be a lot of panic for the teams that whiffed on free agency and the draft.

I think Darnold replaces Teddy and is there in case none of the top QBs make it to us, which is a very real possibly. If we really like Fields or Lance and they are sitting there at 8, I could see us taking one.  The Chiefs didn’t start Mahomes right away and it worked out great. Especially if it’s Lance as he may need more time to develop/adjust.

Just because Darnold WAS a first round pick doesn’t mean we view him as one. We traded next year’s 2 and some late picks, which took us a couple weeks to get that high.
