Tommy Tremble -- Here's a Breakdown If You're Interested**

He's probably the best TE outside of Pitts so I would say they will probably work him in. Honestly catching the ball is probably the easiest thing to correct. Samuel struggled with it until Norv fix his problem so I see no reason Brady can fix Trembles.

I hope so, but I still don’t see him getting enough targets for the folks who think he might become Kittle. Also, I don’t think this was really a good TE class after Pitts. If he’s the 2nd best TE with 35 career catches, it’s not a great class. Kittle had double that and he went in the 5th because of it.

I don’t know if I like that we took him with some solid G prospects on the board but I am excited about his blocking ability. We need an actual good blocking TE to help out our LT whoever it is.

Pitts is really a WR so honestly he probably was the most athletic true TE. Yeah not a dominating class but here's the thing. Its not that he runs lazy routes or is 50/50 on 1000 balls. He seriously only got 35 touches and sometimes you just need more experienced coaching. ND was just fine using him as a nasty blocker and letting Mayer get most of the receiving yards. Tommy T is extremely young and very well may be used just like at ND with Arnald getting most of the red zone snaps. Still I could see Brady using him midfield as an outlet on plays. I know Brady loves using guys people forget and Tommy T is deceptive in that way.

When we get in those 4th and 1 or 3 yards of the goalline and he smacks the poo out of a linebacker and let's our back get those yards, he is worth that pick.  We struggled on those last year.  Some of those were the difference between touchdowns and field goals or turnover on downs.  When you continually lose by 1 score or less, it's usually those little things that make the difference.  It's a block made or a block missed, a complete or an incomplete pass that determine the outcome.

@Madwolf, I am 47 years older than you, and I can assure you age has no correlation to cynicism.  Despite more blows in life than you can name, I remain eternally optimistic.  It's just a more rewarding and enjoyable way to get through the journey.

I was a Dolphins fan in the 60's, living there and surviving the early George Wilson days, until it finally gelled in the 70's, and culminated in perfection.  Now I've lived here since '81 and have cheered the Panthers on from their inception, too.  We are on the cusp of wonderment.

Tremble will play his part, even if only as a blocking machine for CMC.  More than that is gravy on the mashed potatoes.

He'll be a perfect 3rd down conversion.  I saw a clip where he went through the middle like he was blocking and snuck out for a huge gain.  We'll have plenty of 3rd down conversion from other players that just about every time we use him.  It will work.  20 or 30 catches for the season would be awesome.

Seems to me that there are sooo many skill players on Offense, that the possibilities are open-ended.  I don't see how any D can cover them all.  And Tremble has the moves and the speed to pick up blitzers, and to lead block on both sweeps and up the middle runs, so that passes and rushes have to be accounted for on every single play.

I didn't like it, but recall that last year, we'd start off a series with CMC up the middle (usually with only 2-3 yds to show for it.  If Tremble's in on those 1Ds, even those calls should yield a few more yds, at least.  CMC had to get it all on his own last yr.

Tommy Tremble projects as an F-tight end in the NFL, a flex weapon that will be best served in an offense that doesn’t charge him with playing with his hand in the dirt.

Tremble is a plus athlete who offers the long speed and agility to be dynamic as a pass-catcher, but his production to this point has yet to make the leap that you’d want to see to feel confident that he’s going to develop into an upper-level tight end at some point.

Tremble has spent his career at Notre Dame caught behind the likes of Cole Kmet and 2020 freshman star Michael Mayer; he’s been the TE2 who is charged with moving around the set or blocking on the perimeter to set up runs and screens to the outside.

Tremble’s potential is significant and his effort as a role player has been admirable, so you’ll feel fairly good that Tremble has the right makeup to stick as a developmental player while working himself into a more prominent role as he continues to mature.

I think he'll earn a lot of playing time wiping out defenders in space on our zone plays - the most we'll notice him as a rookie is when he springs a long run.

He has a ways to go as a receiver, but the potential is there. If he stays on the field as a blocker he'll earn some looks in the passing game. It'll be down to him and the TE Coach to turn him into something he's not just now.

I think with him on the field it will make our offense more dynamic.
