How much of the Jets performance was really on Darnold?

I've made my point.  The precedent game is stupid.  The data set  is small and varied.  Darnold may bust, he may be mediocre, he may be more.

We can play this stupid game of finding the ultimate comparison, but I find it boring now.

No, they're not.  Must meet all the criteria, or doesn't count.

No, I'm not going to look them up for you.  Google is a wonderful tool.  Take your time.  We'll wait.

I have, they don't exist.

Clearly your myopia doesn't allow for rational analysis/dialogue as the discussion is currently framed so let's change gears and you take the lead...

...what do you believe to be a proper framework which would allow for logical/effective analysis of Sam's forward looking prospects?

What are the specifics of, and basis (historical comps) for, your proposed framework?

Is there something in the air today? Seems to be a lot of "My brain is better than yours" going on. Good times I tell ya what.

Nahh, I was just playing the same stupid game with him he was playing with others on the thread.   No precedent is going to change anyone's mind at this point.  There are quarterback failures and rebounds.  Darnold is gamble...we'll see if Fit and Rhule are right.

For the majority of the Huddle, they are just fans giving their opinions. The rest seem to need validation for their intellect. Those are the ones who won't let things go. And of course there are the trolls. The interwebs sensation that just keeps giving, and giving. Some days, like today. Everything is off kilter.

I think what may be happening is some fans, who are open minded about Darnold, are sick of the shade being thrown his way by supposed "fans"....to a point where whenever someone posts something positive about him, the Darnold Bashers swoop in.  It got old.

The deed is done.  He's our QB.  If they truly want him to succeed, they sure don't act like it.

My favorite one is "I don't expect much, but I hope he proves me wrong". lol   Way to cover the ol buttocks. If he fails , you're covered. If he succeeds, you're covered.

To be fair, I do something similar saying that Darnold may bust.  But the haters create an environment where the fans  are hesitant to post, or feel they have to constantly defend positive posts, about the Panthers QB.. on the Panthers message board.. and that is bullsht.

FYI: Our resident fan of the Appaloosa method isn't very good at detecting when he's being trolled.

I have no quarrel with folks claiming San will bust. My ire heats up when they go overboard trying to convince the wait and see crowd. They just know they're right. So you must be stupid, or a troll.

Ah the Huddle, rarely a dull moment.

Yup.  Even in post draft pre-preseason dead zone.

So it's really as simple as a coin flip?

There's no proper framework/precedent you can think of which could allow for an evaluation process that might tilt the odds in the favor of Tepper & Co??

    • Yes, but Bryce Young is what amplifies that concern for me for a super green HC and OC.   it’s all and marriages by Tepper IMO.  Canales and the new OC probably would have a better time getting their O running with a vet QB that is a natural fit.   again, I’m not arguing Canales and Morgan should be catering to Bryce at this point.  Just pointing out how pointless drafting Bryce looks at this stage.  And I don’t disagree you either can play or can’t and the O is irrelevant at this level.   I mean fit matters at this level.  Everyone is too talented.  Fit makes or breaks careers.
    • Excellent post, Jackie Lee.  I watched every second.
    • Yes you have said all of that as well. I was just saying having concerns about a one year OC transitioning to HC and trying to call plays like you have stated before as well implies he could be in over his head this first year. I’m not calling you out or anything. It’s a concern and I’m sure there will be some growing pains along the way. As for the Bryce thing, he is either a NFL QB or he isn’t. If he doesn’t look any better this year, then I think we simply move on and let Canales pick his guy. I think Beck has a big arm if that’s his type. Trying to build a very unique roster just to see if he can find success isn’t a good idea IMO. If he looks much better this year then sure you can cater a little more to his skillset.
