Hurricanes may not resign Nedejkovic

With a roster like ours, it is not the time to be being a cheap ass.

It’s not about being a cheap ass. We have plenty of cap space to play with but we have a ton of people to resign including Svech and a second goalie no matter what.

4-4.5 for 2-3 years is fine for Ned prove it seal in the scheme of things. If his upper arbitration limit is 4.5 I wouldn’t be to worried. I would be worried if he’s asking for vas or price money and can get it through arbitration. He had one decently good half season, ABH is right. We need to see what he can do in a full season with a heavier work load.

I think this all just posturing from both sides.  Ned will get his raise, but the Canes cannot break the bank and term on him - he only has a partial season and two playoff rounds where he has been the man.

Oh, we also didn't win the President's Trophy this year even though we had a chance....and yes I give a ton of credit to Nedejkovic for having that opportunity.

With Dundon, it's always about being a cheap ass...

Sent Kaiton packing to save a nickel.

Lowballed Forslund straight to NBC.

Sent the Checkers packing to make a few bucks.

Picking fights with Centennial Authority bc he doesn't want to pay his rent.

Got into a public pissing match with a beloved head coach and former player bc he didn't want to pay the assistant coaches and trainers.

Make no mistake, it's definitely about the $$$, first and foremost, when it comes to Mr. Slumlord.

Don't be surprised when Tripp's contract comes up and they replace him with some freshman intern from Wake Tech.

Hell, I'd bet money that Stormy is just a handful of stray cats stuffed into the costume at this point.

I'm so glad someone else sees this. Until proven otherwise, Tom Dundon doesn't really care about winning. He got lucky and inherited a team that was going to be good no matter who owned. This is the offseason that is going to make or break our stanley cup hopes and so far from what we've seen, Dundon is not stepping up to the plate.

One thing I can't stand is how he ALWAYS talks about the team like its an investment, saying things like "while I'm here" and "as long as I'm the owner". I get the feeling that he's treating the team like people do cars or houses and that he plans on flipping it for profit eventually. He really seems like he's going to end up making us the Bengals of the NHL.

I agree with the overall sentiment, but Tripp's contract did expire and he was re-signed!

Stormy has been two handfuls of stray cats stuffed in the costume the past two seasons!  😜

I honestly think a deal gets done. Dumdum already caved to Chancellor Brind'Amour once this offseason. And, I hope he's not dumb enough to let a talent like Ned walk out that door.

Ned is not gonna get $10million per like Vas or Price. I don't know what my ceiling would be as a GM, but if I was Ned, I'm not taking less than 5.

Exactly Stumpy. We need to retain Ned.

Well I was wrong....Ned did get his raise, but not from the Canes.  I guess they didn't like the small sample size of his actual games played!

Playing with fire - this is either going to look good like the Skinner deal played out or the Canes just made a very big mistake.  We'll know in a couple of years.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
