I am concerned the biggest issue is that either we just don't consider OL a major priority(yet) or our franchise simply does not evaluate them very well.

There aren't many explanations for why we have made the moves we have made the past two seasons(or the past decade). I guess we'll find out what the story is the next couple of seasons.

Paying Moton was a good start as well as drafting Christensen and Brown. Let’s hope we further address it next offseason. We seemed really fixated on fixing the defense these past two…

Option 3 is they do value it and see it as a priority but have only had 2 drafts and shitty FA leftovers to comb through.

There are many priorities to address and the offensive line is in the top 2.  We still don't know if number one is fixed and Detroit screwed us out of our LT target so they followed their board and added talent wherever they could.

Pretty simple actually.

Paying Moton was a good start. Drafting BC and Brown are TBD. They may prove to make our FO/staff look like geniuses or be further evidence they don't have any clue how to evaluate offensive lineman. We'll know in the next couple of seasons.

Maybe. The future will tell us how they feel. Another season of neglect and it will probably be as much info as we need to say otherwise.

Perhaps OL is literally just low on their list of priorities and we will get to it eventually. Not the way I would ever build a football team but it is what it is if we end up where we need to in the end.

Fair, but at least they are drafting young talent and not completely ignoring it. TC was a 3rd rounder I believe. I hope he can work his way into the lineup soon so we can at least see what we have in him.

Every team struggles to find talented olinemen, that's not unique to the Panthers. At worst they got 2 serviceable young guards in one draft.  Give time man. Fitt just started cooking.

I wouldn't say "ignoring" I would say largely dumpster diving at the moment(FA and the draft). That's certainly one strategy but it's a more difficult path to follow to get where you want to be.

Hey, it's possible they are hip to things the rest of the league isn't and these are All-Pro guys. We will see.

I have no idea if they are serviceable or not. They have a combined 0 offensive snaps in the NFL so far.

I get that it's always a struggle to build a line but we struggle more than most, IMO. I would like to eventually end that. We have had good and great offensive lines in our franchise history.

I mean there hasn’t been much available with giving up capital which we desperately need right now. I think we would have drafted Sewell if he dropped to us and just weren’t that high on Slater. Outside of that we would have been reaching or trading away picks to get one. We got TC at a good spot for value. Erving didn’t look terrible Sunday either, or maybe Elf was just so bad he made Erving look decent….

We all would like that my friend.  It's just not going to magically happen in one offseason.  That's is all our current GM has had to address it.

No rookie has had their first start until they do.  I cannot imagine these two rookies will be worse than what's been demonstrated so far.  Of that I'm sure.

I'm just not ready to admit defeat after one draft.

I wouldn't say I am admitting defeat. Just generally perplexed by what their actual plan is for the OL. I can see the plan for other areas of the team but the OL I just can’t(outside the Moton signing).

Let's hope it all works out.

    • Possible, he is physical and a forchecker but not a needle mover, but i wouldnt mind it, although I think we have enough 4th line grinders right now between Carrier Robinson and Janakowski  down there, i actually really love our 4th line.            We need scoring in the top 6, and a RHD at this point its definitely coming via trade.            Rasmus Andersson I hear may be on the market, it feels like every couple of seasons someone links us to Erik Karlsson.       As far as centers go,  Marco Rossi (even though we have a ton of smurf already)     Jordan Kyrou is an intriguing option if he is available.           At this point i think Rod should just move Jarvis to his natural center position to give us a 1B center...   yes hes also a smurf but he plays way bigger than he is stylistically.

    • The problem with these summary stats and rankings is that they flatten out progression and assume an even performance throughout the year. His first 3 or 4 games of the season don't really tell you anything about his current level of capacity but more about where he started and what his floor was last year. Given his last several games were against playoff teams, that gives you an idea of his current ability coming into the season. But it will serve more as a floor than a ceiling given the upgrade in talent on offense. And a better defense should give us more stops which results in shorter fields and more opportunities. And going into his third year there is no reason to suspect he will regress. His success wasn't  based on being superhuman but being smart and taking what was the defense was giving him. Distributing to the other guys not trying to do it on his own. He was great at the end when pressured and consistently moved the ball. That makes him a great game manager which is what we need. Something that is easier to do and relies on everyone else rather than having to be a top physical specimen or do it on his own. No one can predict the future but to say we haven't improved much is crazy given just having the Browns anchoring the defensive line will shut down the run and make sure QBs won't be stepping up in the pocket.  Assuming Evero got the message to can the prevent defense and bend until you break philosophy.
