I'd argue two, but I get the point you are making. My point being that this has spanned multiple versions yet this problem appears to still persist.

Unless Marty Hurney was getting his orders from Scott Fitterer last year, it's just one.

Truthfully, a lot of things go through this cycle. It typically ends when they spend a lower round pick on a kicker.

(but sometimes doesn't even then)

You can read what I said and understand it. OL has been an issue for years. Rhule doesn't seem to be much better than his predecessors at the moment. Subject to change.

We don't know how good they are or aren't yet.

We've played one game under this regime. That's way too soon to say anything definitive.

Very impressed with Brown dropping that much weight and looking as ferocious as he has.

There is absolutely no reason Daley and/or Elflein should be beating both of these guys out at the guard spots.  Maybe if Daley was at LG.  I just don't get how they're so turned around on evaluating this OL.  I get that we're fans, couch gms, whatever, but it is pretty damn obvious, no?

      He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.

      Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
