The path to a dominant offensive line

The rookie wall is real. Injuries from lack of conditioning are real, and Rhule/Fitts know this.

Mark my words, Deonte and Brady will be in heavy rotation, If not starting, by week 6, and the line will improve. Mark it.

We have an above average pocket time of 2.4s.  As long as the time to throw is >2.9 like it has been the last couple games, the line is going to look horrible.  Until the time to throw drops back down to Teddy Bridgewater's 2020 average of 2.6, or like Sam did in the Jets game, 2.61, sacks and hits will continue pile up.

As for the run game, the results we are seeing are exactly the result that Brady got with the Saints in 2018 and Pat Meyer got with the Chargers in 2019, about 2 YBC/Att.   Without a change in scheme, I don't see that improving.

It's not discussed much anymore (for obvious reasons) but worth remembering that the Panthers did also sign what they felt was a promising undrafted free agent in David Moore this offseason.

Last I saw he was still on somebody else's practice squad.

(no, I'm not suggesting we bring him back)

LOL people act like we just took our first round pick this year and flushed it down the toilet.  We got motherfuging Jaycee Horn, who BTW was playing like one of the top CBs in the game in his first couple of outings.  Fitterer and Rhule and Tepper have shown me that they are completely committed to building a juggernaut here, so In Them I Trust on building the roster.  I am positive they have a plan to improve the line sooner rather than later.  They've done so with literally every other position group on the team, so why wouldn't they also do it on the line?

We've seen what happened to our  defense without Horn.  I don't think people understand what locking down one side of the field means to D performance both in the run and pass game.

Jets picked him and then released him.  He is currently on the Browns PS.

So two tenths of a second would make guys like Elfliien and Paradis good? Our o-line would be top half of the leaugue with Teddy B under center? I forget, was Paradis good last year?

Any judgment of Brown and Christensen at this point is severely premature.

We know precious little about them still. And on the topic of how they will perform as pros, pretty much zero.

True, but sometimes the absence of something makes for a big whistling void. Someone who makes the decisions has at least an idea of how they will perform.

Look, I've loved watching our recent games and the wins have me feeling a lot more confident about the direction the franchise is headed, but one area that hasn't been showing us any progress is that offensive line. And that's been a problem for near on a decade now. We all know it was a systemic problem before Rhule. I'm just saying that I'm not sure there's a lot of new light being shed on the problem by Fitterer yet.

Perhaps it wasn't his top priority. Maybe it was, there certainly was a lot of activity early on there. Most likely it's one of those phase three things. But as for our bench sitting rookie linemen, I'm going to have to see them out there before I can give them any sort of passing grade.

seems nfl owners and gm's like the splash moves in the offseason for ticket sales, and signing a guard isn't high priority

These numbers are averages, so yes, most definitely.  You've seen how quick Burns get to the QB haven't you?

BTW Elflein hasn't played the last two games.   The first two games, the line was statistically above average.  When Elflein did play he gave up 0 sacks.  Things did not get awesome when Elflein went out, they got progressively worse by nearly every measure.  Paradis is trying to help Daley where-ever he is, RG (jets)  or  LG (Houston, Dallas).

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
