Have you ever called an offense? Do you know how complicated you can make it?

Did you know Luke Kuechly could pretty consistently tell you exactly what the offense was going to do when the ball is snapped?   Opposing QBs are on record he would call out essentially every play they ran.

I think way too much stock is being put in that one comment.   We got guys that know exact route someone is about to run too.  It’s just about stopping it.  And a QB not throwing to a route the defense won.

Look dude we all know you hate Darnold. You and the PJ fan club dude talked about it all preseason.

I’m not trying to be a smartass but Darnold does have 11 TDs with a raggedy OL and no McCaffrey in 2 games. I don’t think Mahomes or Rodgers could be successful behind the OL that’s out there right now (and no I’m not comparing them I’m just saying our OL is a dumpster fire)

When Teddy left he made the comments about red zone, which made sense, we also had the same 2nd half sump problems last year. Now, we are getting figured out each game and the play calling is very predictable.

It’s hard to develop a young QB when he’s being chased to and from and the defense is reading every play. You have to game plan, hide your play calls with motion or different packages and put him behind an OL that’s going to keep him on his feet.

Justin Fields or Mac Jones would be in the same situation as Darnold right or maybe worse. Darnold is just accustomed to trash offense so that gives him a leg up.

I don’t hate Darnold lol.  I didn’t hate Jimmy.   Jimmy was just horrible at playing QB.

I talk about Darnold exactly like I did Teddy.  And then when the crowd shifted on Teddy people got mad because I wouldn’t blame him for everything.

Last year, Samuel, Robby, DJ, Teddy all had career years.  The play calling overall isn’t horrible.  Situationally he needs work which is to be expected given it is only the start of his second season ever doing it.

and given how trash our OL is….Joe Brady is part of the reason we have been able to be so competitive.   But he can only do so much.  The overall scheme is fine.

and I only argued that PJ had more value than Will Grier.  I have never advocated for PJ over Darnold.

I don't understand the kid gloves we've treated Darnold with. Fitts says he's in on every deal but when you backup QB is PJ Walker and a QB who has played better than your current starter gets traded for a 6th round pick, well that's a deal you should've probably been in on. I honestly think we weren't in on that deal because we don't want Darnold feeling any pressure whatsoever. And let's be honest, if Gardner Minshew was on the roster many of us (including myself) would be pounding the table to see him next week. I think we might be a little too focused on "traits" sometimes. Yes, Darnold has good traits. Better than Minshew. But Minshew is a better QB.

Nobody should even have to say this it is nonsense and fugery. You play to win the game and he directly contributed to our loss if there is anything anyone hates it is getting spanked in our own stadium and then watching the opposing quarterback taunt us knowing we handed them the game.

If we even sniff the playoffs then it means CMC is league MVP. Darnold, Brady and Rhule couldn't win the Highschool state championship. Sad but true.

well, I mean Joe Brady was a key element to a college football national championship and the greatest offense college football has seen…

and in a covid year, with no preseason, installing a brand new offense….and no CMC…with a horrible OL and Checkdown QB…..had us in virtually every game.

and presently we have a winning record with what has been the worst starting QB in the NFL over the last 3 seasons…

Joe Brady isn’t our main problem on offense.

Nah, I just didn't drink the whole pitcher of Kool aid after the 3-0 start. I realized we beat two of the worst teams in the league and a Saints team that was missing a good chunk of it's roster and coaching staff. 3-0 is 3-0, but I knew those three games really hadn't told us much about who we are as a team.

I don't think we're as bad as everyone is panicking into thinking right now, but I don't think we're as good as everyone wanted to think we were at 3-0. We're somewhere in the middle. Which is pretty much what I expected. I expected us to be .500ish this year.

We don't have an OL or the answer at QB. Best of luck with high expectations given that reality.

    • He was hurt last game, that's why Rico got more touches.  It's the NFL and injuries are the norm. They did right and went out and got a back that can run. Now prove they chose wisely
    • He was a project coming out of college and seeing that he doesn’t care much he won’t make it IMO
    • My very UNPOPULAR opinion:   First, I would want to know the locker room.  Have they turned on Canales?  If not, I would stay with him.  Here is why: Switching coaches every year or two is not the answer to long term success.  We are chasing hope instead of building a program around a young coach.  There were not many applicants for this job and if you think they are suddenly dying to be here now, that MIGHT justify a coaching change Canales has made some tough decisions (like benching Bryce), but his weaknesses (the team's weaknesses) have been in the areas in which we have neglected or sucked for years.  Who did we get for CMC?  Who made the trade with the Bears when we had no idea at the time who we wanted?  Who drafted Mingo, Marshall, XL, etc.?  Who signed a frequently-injured CB to the biggest contract in NFL history at the time for a CB?  I look at the personnel decisions and the play calling.  Our edge players are injured and not that good when healthy. He played Johnson because he had nothing left.  Johnson was terrible Sunday.  He has nothing at LB and two starting OL are now out.  XL is pouting because he does not seem to have paid the price to be paid the price of a first round pick.  AT was sent packing.  Bryce's resurgence last year may have been Canales and not Bryce. Evero still does not have the tools he needs to succeed--on the field or perhaps between his ears.   If Canales fires Evero, he is probably doing the right thing.  Remember, we had a lot of money in dead cap when Canales took over.  Fitterer was the worst GM since Matt Millen in the NFL, and we have sucked recently in the first round of the draft (Bryce, XL) until this season.   When the GM is trying to give the coach what he needs to be successful and you keep changing coaches, it is difficult.   I think this--stay with Canales, but bring in a veteran DC.  Some argue that Canales needs to move on from Bryce, but this team is not set up to give him options.  Andy aint the answer.  We never seem to take the PS QB seriously--all eggs are in one basket.  Canales needs options. This team needs to address the QB situation.  Bryce's best games are not Lombardi worthy, so move on.  He is not the Alpha a young coach needs on the field.  Give him options at QB, some LBs and a good coordinator on defense, and I think we could use another stud WR.  It is time to start drafting developmental OL and start grooming them to replace our aging OL. This draft is solid at QB as it stands now.  We need to focus on drafting the right guy and signing a veteran backup who is not the starting QB's BFF.  Compete.  Heck, i have no problem doing what Cleveland did--draft a QB in round 1 and then another QB if one falls into day 3.   I think we need stability and I am not confident any respectable coach comes to Carolina.  Canales is frustrated, but the front office has failed him, as have injuries, and a really bad draft a few years ago that brought them Bryce.  He was hired to fix Bryce--so I say neuter him so he does not sire any more 5'8" QBs.   Canales is better that Rivera was--Canales just has so much less talent.  Rivera was coach of the year a few times because he had Cam Newton, but could never put two winning seasons together.  That is a crime.
