Darnold doesn't bother me

What we payed for Darnold is a lot better than if we took Fields at 8

We don't know that.   Sam was prepped to start all camp and is a 4 year vet.

Chicago prepped Dalton all camp and then threw Fields into a Dalton offense as rookie.

Gotta give Fields a little time.   We have seen lots of rookies be disaters out of the gate and get settled in.  Fields might end up sucking.  Way too early to chalk passing on him or Mac as good moves though.

Why are you sh*tting on my post? He is on some Daniel Snyder type stuff. And Sam Darnold ain't getting past his slow release, his slow progressions, or his lack of accuracy if he hasn't as a soon to be four year starter. And if Gardner Minshew was your first option what the hell do you want in a QB other than mediocrity?

Before you poo on Minshew, you might want to look a little closer.

Yes, the Jags were 7-25 over the last two seasons, the two where Minshew was on the roster.  Minshew was 7-13.  While that record isn't wonderful, what it does say is that WITHOUT him the Jags didn't win a single game.

His stats look fine.  On his career, he's at 63% overall completions.  He made a huge jump from his rookie season to his second season, going from 60% to 66%.  His TD% looks good at 4.5%, on par with Derek Carr.  His INT% even better at 1.4%, on par with Aaron Rodgers.

All of this while on a Jacksonville team that was, believe it or not, even worse than ours.

Honestly, I would have much rather had Minshew and someone like Brissett in here than what we have.  But that's just me.

And Fields will cost less for 4 seasons than Darnold will for this one.

    • So to suggest that our offensive weapons might not be as horrible as being claimed if we were to have Josh Allen throwing to them instead of Bryce is a stretch? Maybe they would be better, maybe not. But I'm not going to keep saying we need more weapons and more this and more that with a QB that struggles to get 200 yards passing in a game.  You're right, our receiving corp was ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league. Who was throwing to them? A bottom 3rd QB.  If the team wants to get better it has to be serious about the QB position. We aren't and no amount of adding weapons is going to solve the fact Bryce is a bottom tier QB or that the most serious camp competition he has ever faced was Andy Dalton.  If Carolina fans were watching any other franchise entrench themselves so vehemently around this level of QB production, we'd be laughing like he'll and waiting for our chance to play them twice a year.
    • I’ll also say agin, this is why I think we’re in a great spot this year to trade down, and maybe meeting with all these WRs is a smokescreen to try and make a WR needy team over trade to get our pick so we don’t take the guy they want. While at the same time, if Downs falls outside the Top 10, I’d be comfortable with darn near any trade involving our 2027 1st, to move up and get him.  He’s going to be one of th best Safeties in the game for years to come.
    • Teams we are better than in regards to the wr room without a doubt and there are other teams you could easily debate Ravens Pats bills miami pats jets ravens  browns jags (debatable for sure) titans Chiefs Raiders Giants (debatable) Saints  Skins
