There could be quite a few HC openings this year

Not trying to bring the bad news but Rhule isn’t going anywhere. Brady was the scapegoat for this year, and we’re stuck for one more year.

Joe Brady alone doesn't work for the scapegoat route.

I mean, so much of the problems in Carolina have nothing to do with Joe Brady and his playcalls.

I don’t think so either. The damage that could be caused by Rhule trying to “win now” next year could be bad enough to hinder us for a decade. The easiest solution now is to bring in a staff that can win with this roster and the limited capital we have this offseason.

Not allow Rhule to further drive away players, spend cap, trade picks, etc. I don’t think Rhule would have fired Brady if he didn’t feel pressure. He has said he doesn’t believe in firing assistants. I think this was more of “you need to show me something these next 5 games” and Rhule fired Brady and put Nixon in because he trusts him.

If it works good, his friend is his coordinator. If it doesn’t he’s probably fired and won’t have to replace his coordinator/buddy if he sucks the next 5 games because he’s gone too.

Rhule just put all his chips on the table.

“I've been here a long time,” Carroll said after a lengthy pause. “And if we didn't have Russell, I probably wouldn't be here a long time.”

Whatever coach we get will need a QB to succeed here. Carroll has at least proven he can have consistent, sustained success in this league AND win a championship.

someone once outlined a different way to win.

pay your RB more than anyone else in the NFL, largely only draft defense.  Add the worst starting QB in the NFL to lead your team and try to put together the worst OL in the NFL. Oh, yeah, and lots and lots of Baylor and Temple guys.

Hey I hope it does but I think he could lose out and still would be here. Tepper has no balls, everyone was taking about his brass balls. He needs to just sell team and stick with his English football.

I don't question Tepper's balls.

It's his brains I doubt.

Rhule will be back for a third year.   But he's having to learn on-the-job.  Which is a pretty ridiculous situation considering it's a multi-million dollar position.  But that's on Tepper for hiring an unqualified candidate.

We'll see if Rhule is smart enough NOT to repeat his same mistakes in 2022.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
