I should be mad about Hurney trading next year's first for Brown and Goodson because that pick could have been coupled with another first to get a QB that makes Jake look good in comparison?

I swear the Rooney rule is the only thing keeping you guys out of an NFL front office.

Naaaa... I think with this years QB class we can get a steal in the early 2nd.....

Brown and Goodson are worth the $$$$$$

BUT

Everyone should be pissed off about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ pep cost us...

The only reason folks are mad about the draft is because we are giving the 49'rs a top 15 pick....

Could have been one hell of a QB...... bUt I would rather pay 2nd round $$$$ when he wont start in 2010 anyways (unless he just is insane in pre-season- which is VERY UNLIKELY)

Most of the people who are mad about that whole situation, I think, are thinking that any quarterback drafted in the first round is an instant franchise quarterback. It's easy to slip into that line of thinking when you see the Ryans and Flaccos, Sanchezes and Staffords of the league playing better as rookies than our vet is.

Of course, no team is guaranteed a franchise quarterback in the first round, and for every Matt Ryan there's a Ryan Leaf.

Still, if we were able to find such a guy in the first round, would he not be worth much more to the team than a pass rushing specialist and a No. 3 running back?

Don't get me wrong, I love both players and hope that they'll really develop into quality players for us. But Fox has failed to address the quarterback situation here, whether through the draft or otherwise.

I think the trials and tribulations of a 1st round QB are more complicated and include more variables than most people would like to realize and it isn't as simple as drawing a line in the sand and delegating them to the bust side or the success side.

No, we're pissed because we traded a top 10 pick for a 4th string running back and an average, undersized, backup DE

Dude, how the hell do you know how good Brown and Goodson are going to be? I'll bet you're one of the assholes that assumed that Sherrod Martin sucked because Mel Kiper didn't sing his praises too, right?

The point he's making is that right now...Everette Brown wouldn't be considered a top-15 pick. That's what he is at this point.

Gman also proclaimed the Falcons defense was going to be better than ours this year because of Lawrence Sidbury who is dominating to the tune of one awesome solo tackle on the season. You have to consider the source.

Dude, aren't you one of the assholes that swore up and down that we blitzed a lot in the first two games when in fact we blitzed a total of nine times? Yeah shut up! Lol! As of right now brown and goodson combined are not worth a first let alone a top ten pick. hopefully that will change. I doubt it though. Brown is too small to play a 3-4 DE and goodson can't hold onto the football plus he is a shitty return man

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
