Howell certainly doesn't look any better than Darnold.  I was disappointed in how he played today.  But that was the first full game I've watched of his.  UNC's offense looks a lot like the Panthers offense.

UNC's offense scored more in 1 game than we have in the last 3-4 I think.  They looked off today for some reason.  I am not sure we should draft Howell, but I certainly wouldn't judge him based on one game.

Having seen Malik Willis play live multiple times, he’d be the guy I go with (assuming we have a new coaching staff).

I’ll echo the sentiment that he has an extremely high ceiling with an extremely low floor. However, with the right coaching I think he’ll be a very good NFL player.

He’s been working with Sean McEvoy and Quincy Avery to refine his craft. McEvoy, who has worked with both Willis and Lance, stated that Willis has the better arm strength between the two which is absolutely crazy to think about.

I personally think he’ll be a great player, he arguably has the best deep ball in all of college football and he’s put up solid numbers  through the air and on the ground behind one of the worst (if not the worst) OL in all of college football.

If a coach can work on his mechanics a little bit so that he’s more consistent on his intermediate throws then he could be an absolute freak on the football field. His Houdini acts and presence in the run game speaks for itself.

Not to mention, the guy is a great leader and very humble.

If we traded down and picked up an early pick in the second round then I’d target Willis.

Not as a passer for me.  Willis is a faster PJ Walker.  Not at all on his bandwagon.  He played bad comp and we he did play good teams he struggled mightily.

Your description fits Matt Corral for me.  He is my top guy atp.

Corral

Howell

Ridder

Pickett

Strong

Nah. Willis has a way better NFL skillset than PJ. Could also be a worse player.

LOL…yeah you are probably right there.  Gotta be a better passer as I saw some really bad overthrows and such from him.  Great athleticism but he is not Lamar Jackson.

I am gonna be honest, from what I have seen of Willis, I expect his NFL career to be shorter than his rookie contract.

His bust flags are just insane. Easily the most talented kid in this draft but he is a HUGE project.

This is a bad take. Liberty’s OL is worse than UNC’s which has been the constant excuse for Howell..  with that in mind, of course Willis will struggle when playing SEC teams.

When Willis has time he throws a very impressive deep ball, it’s the inconsistency in the intermediate passing game that he needs to work on.

For all the people clamoring about Zach Wilson last year, Wilson lost to the Coastal Carolina team that Willis single handily beat.

It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. Liberty’s OL has a lot to do with his bad habits. Like I said, with the right coaching he’ll succeed.

Watch his progress from Auburn to Liberty. Three years ago he couldn’t even complete passes in Auburn’s spring game… now he’s being projected as a first round pick. He’s only gotten better with time and I think he will continue to succeed based off of what I’ve seen.

Yeah but we are talking about the jump to the NFL. I have rarely seen college QB's make some of the bad decisions and passes that Willis did.

When you don’t have time to throw and you are your teams offense then there are going to be bad habits. There’s only maybe one (and that’s a big maybe) other NFL player on Liberty’s entire offensive unit (DeMario Douglas), I think he can be coached out of playing hero ball.

I’ll also mention, the senior bowl will be huge for him. If he performs well then he’s a first round pick… if he doesn’t then he might be a third round guy like you said.

That is easy to say but plenty of college QB's play behind porous OL's. They don't make those passes.

And this is a dude that is HIGHLY likely to be playing behind a porous OL if he gets drafted top 15.

Nah, I'm good. Don't hate the kid but he id a Day Two pick to me. I love him in the third but not above that.

For the Panthers I want a pure passer or something that looks like one.  I mean Jake and Beuerlein are best we ever had as passers?  Man

No slight at all at Cam either.  He is the best Panther ever for me but not a pure passer

Pickett isn’t it for me.  Is he as good as Goff?  That is my comp but more like Gabbert.
