Today's Game

I can't watch the game at the moment, but I'm following social media, this thread, and a Lion's thread.

In the Lion's thread they're talking about taking Malik with the second pick. I'm wondering what's the difference in our fanbases that we're seeing the game so differently. Social media is also somewhat hyped on Malik, but I just keep seeing the same two highlight plays.

Baylor RB looked amazing, That Michigan LT looked like the only good lineman on the entire field. Wasn't expecting Riddler to be the best looking QB but here we are. Malik has all the arm talent and mobility in the world but will def need some time with a QB coach and a bench if he is to ever develop into anything a la Trey Lance. Pickett looked like Pickett, another Andy Dolton/Chad Pennington type player which is right up Matt Rhules ally (sigh).

Edit: Oh yea and Howell... nothing to say there, dude is 100% a bust.

Just now, CPantherKing said:

Howell's wind up and patting the ball is going to kill him in the NFL. Best of the overhyped bunch so far if he can stop that low hold, wind up, and pat.

That's weird. When I watched Howell's games he always had an incredibly quick release.

In the side by side drills earlier this week Howell always got the ball out quicker than the other quarterback.

He’s being overhyped but hey I hope they take him at two and then when Rhule takes Pickett we’ll both be laughed at.

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
