To Jake Haters

I am hearing a lot of "We should have traded for Brett Favre or drafted Flacco or traded for Henne and we should have known since Jake's awful season in 2006 that we needed a QB".

To this, I say:

So you are saying that we should have just thrown away our team chemistry by putting Jake on the bench and passed on an elite run blocking tackle or the best complementing back in the league by drafting Flacco. Nice idea.

Oh and in Jake's "awful season" he had a 82 passer rating which is higher than Favre's in 2008. And we would have gotten rid of Favre after last year so dont say "well this year, we would be awesome!".

So, even though it is pointless in me saying this, stop complaining about Jake. Subract the game vs. Philly and Buffalo and up until last week, his QB rating would be 87.

I've researched some of the less-than elite QB's in the NFL who have started 8 games or more, and subtracted their worst 3 games and posted their QB ratings:

Jamarcus Russell : 58.8

Matthew Stafford : 77.8

Jake Delhomme: 83.2

Marc Bulger: 93.5

Chad Henne: 94.6

Jason Campbell: 95.1

Mark Sanchez: 97.1

Joe Flacco: 99.9

Kyle Orton: 103.7

Only 2 quarterbacks in the NFL, that started 8 games or more, had worse QB rating than Delhomme if you subtract their worst 3 games.

Russell, Stafford, Delhomme...Not a group I'd want to be mentioned in....

We should never get rid of Jake, even if he was the worst QB in the league, or even if he led the league in interceptions.... ...

...

the chemistry he brings to this team is the sole reason I watch the panthers...I love how he connects with our guys and pumps them up right before leading them in a loss...

Jake for 2010!

If I was Williams or Smith and Jake was going to be my QB next year I would be wanting out.

Being friends and having chemistry is cool and all but if it doesn't play a part in actually winning games, it's completely worthless; and from a business standpoint, unacceptable. Its going to have other player's, worth a lot more, thinking about playing somewhere else.

QB was and is a bigger concern than what they make it out to be.

we could have picked up a good RB later. i am pretty confident that hightower would have given us the punch that we need. forte would have been a good choice as well. kevin smith has done well. steve slaton...ray rice...all of these guys would have been solid for us. a good QB would have helped out our run game as much as going after the first or second RB in that draft.

flacco would be just fine in this scheme. their offense is a bit more creative but in his first year it was massively run heavy, more so than ours.

i'm more concerned about the long term...not last year. losing in the playoffs was more than one players fault. the whole team failed. i don't think flacco would have been given a chance just like i don't think he would have been given a chance this year.

the biggest problem is that fox has married himself to jake. that holds us back in the short term and the long term. because of that, this whole conversation is pointless. regardless of how jake does, fox is going to back him as the starter.

the decision to IR mccown was a mistake unless you knew there was going to be a QB controversy and you knew that the biggest competition that jake has for the job was mccown. you don't want him to seriously be challenged for the job, you say that your back up QB is too immature and you go out and pick up feeley. is that what happened? i don't know but i do believe that a lot of the decision making regarding QB has to do with the idea of jake rather than what he actually brings to the field as a performer and a lot of what they have done has been to protect both jake and their decision to stick with him.

QB *is* a bigger concern, but it wasn't a year and a half ago for the reasons already mentioned. You can be assured that they knew they needed help there, they had signed David Carr the year before after all. But Matt Moore had shown some real potential, and Jake was recovering. I'm not saying it wasn't a need, what I'm saying is that it wasn't the top need on the list.

Had Williams been as good as he is in 2007, then I bet we would have taken a stud OT in the first and a RB later. But I seriously doubt we ever would have considered Flacco with our pick. When he was taken people thought Baltimore reached for him, remember?

I also don't think Fox is married to Jake. I think Jake is the best QB we have, and that's not saying much. Word from the beat writers is that the prospect of playing Moore worried them so much they put McCown on IR early rather than risk having to rely on him. That's really come back and bitten them. I truly believe that if McCown was not on IR, he would be starting right now.

Next year Jake will be back, McCown might, Moore will be gone, and we'll have a drafted QB on the roster. You watch. :)

if we lose this week. we should give moore the remainder of the season to see what he has to offer. then, we'll know if we need to do major overhaul of the entire group of QB's or just with jake. if matt proves backup worthy, then he can be the #2 next year for either a rookie hot shot or for luke or AJ or whomever is around in training camp.

Guest Jake Delhomme 17

Jake is not the problem for the last fuging time!!. the problem is John Fox & Jeff Davidson get rid of those 2 and everything will be fine.

Kinda funny some folks here wanted Favre right now, when our season ended 2 yrs. ago many didn't wanted him here. Funny now some of you wanted him here when you didn't before our '08-'09 started.

I actually would like to see how Davidson is under a different coach that would give him more freedom & not hold him back. Look how Henning did better with the 'Phins now than his last season with us. It's possible it more on Fox than the Coordinator.

I completely agree. I'm sick and tired of Fox throwing interceptions and fumbling the ball away. I wish we could just bench his ass!!

Lmao! TS and Jake Delhomme 17 crack me up. People who defend Jake need to get their head examined. This isn't Jake from 2003-07. The man is done and he needs to get benched because he's killing the offense. Jake17 your right, Fox is the problem because he gave your hero a contract extension over the off-season. I used to be a Jake lover but fug HIM!

Jake has no confidence in his throwing game, we all have seen that. But, I still think he got what it takes to help this team win if we can get that confidence back in the game.

I don't think he has the confidence anymore, especially after that Cards Playoff loss. That why he need to be bench right for now & put in Moore.

Another thing is Fox refusing to bench Jake seem to make him push himself too hard. When you're struggling & the coach still put you in as the starter, it not going to help.
