Week Of: Draft Buzz, Rumors, & News (w/updates)

Collating some notable tidbits I've come across.  This thread will have constant update/adds because I'm being nerdy about the draft this year.

Thibodeaux to Houston at 3? Rising again?:

WalterFootball (I know, take it for what it's worth):

4/24: Updating a previous item, the former Texans employee believes Kayvon Thibodeaux will be the pick. - Walter Cherepinsky, WalterFootball.com

Either my source or the Texans have had a change of heart, or this is all meaningless. Regardless, the former Texans employee previously said he believes Houston would draft Ahmad Gardner, but now believes it'll be Thibodeaux.

The IOL Prospects are not as you expect...

Word is that there are zero teams that have a 1st Round grade on Linderbaum

Both Cole Strange and Cam Jurgens has ascended during the process.  Much higher on boards than perceived.

Kyle Hamilton Free Fall?

Per Pauline and a few others as reported this week, sounds like Hamilton may fall anywhere between 15-20 (maybe further?)

Packers draft rumors: Could Kyle Hamilton fall into Green Bay's range? (lombardiave.com)

Garrett Wilson Top-5 Prospect?

Per Jordan Schultz:

"Wilson, according to one GM I spoke with, is one of the best receivers I've evaluated over the past five years. Speed, route-running, hands, can break the game open at any time."

*Should note that every team went to his pro day.

Trade-Likely Teams:

DENVER, Carolina, Seattle, Minny, Philly & LAC

This is per my SF FO ties (take it or leave it)

Not surprised about Linderbaum. His measurables were honestly alarming and center isn't a high value position. Plenty of drafts don't see a single center go in R1.

FWIW, I still think the guy will likely be a quality starting NFL center but he's nowhere close to the generational center prospect folks were trying to make him out to be when many on this board were begging for him at #6.

I really liked Bradbury as a prospect. Hell, for that matter I really liked Eflein as a prospect. Evidently, if you're a center prospect getting drafted by the Vikings is the kiss of death. 😆

At center, I'm still hoping Bozeman works out and decides to stick around beyond this year.

Even if he does though, Bradbury could conceivably play left guard (the easiest position on the line, so it's said).

Yeah I thought the praise for him was a bit premature. It seems like there’s always these apparent “generational” OL talent we just can’t pass on in recent drafts…when in reality, the only to come into fruition being Nelson. I mean just last year Sewell was this can’t miss dude and nearly everyone pegged Slater as this other tier lower.

A short time back, The 33rd Team posted an article by a former scout naming five teams they felt were poised to trade down.

We're not one of them.

Five teams poised to trade back in Round 1

I've gone from wanting an OT, to wanting Willis, to now wanting to trade back no matter what. So much talent in rounds 2-3 in this draft that could make an immediate impact.

I suspected Hamilton might fall.

Linderbaum falling to the second is very interesting. Interested to see if that happens.

Bradbury was another smaller, very athletic guy. Interesting to see Linderbaum fall. Bradbury being an example of why you don't draft a center in the 1st round.

    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
    • You do know the biggest military base in the US is located just an hour from Raleigh in Fort Bragg right? Military families are family oriented. A hour drive to games is nothing compared to traveling 3 hours to Charlotte.   Cmon man there is nothing happening in Western Carolina other than Charlotte. I only go west for outdoor activities and some nature/mountain views.
