Showcase Darnold Early on in the Season?

We honestly need to just go ahead and pay him to go away for the year and trade a 6th for Baker or sign Cam back.

Showcasing Darnold is the equivalent to having an open house at a condemned crack den.  No one else is getting fooled by his sorry ass.  Hopefully, he's either going to be on the bench or at home come week 1.

I think they all know he's fool's gold by now. We were his last chance.

I'm not ready to go there. We had a bottom 5 line and limited offensive weapons last year, as well as a way below average OC and OL coach. He now has a top ten line on paper. All his weapons are healthy and we have a much better OC and Top rate OL coach. This year is his last chance, but no one was going to win with that OL and weapons. The ball is in his court

You don't play guys to "showcase" them. You play guys because you're trying to win.

And let's be real: It's not like anybody who happens to be interested in him isn't going to look at all his tape

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
