So I like Baker and think he gives us the best chance to win but top 10 QB?

Who is he better than in the group listed below: Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, Allen, Herbert, Burrow, Stafford, Wilson, Watson, Jackson, Prescott, Murray, and Carr.

I like your list but how can Watson be on it anymore? He hasn't played in forever and could be very rusty. May not play this year either who knows. Probably should drop him and out someone on there. I don't know who but someone else. As of today he has had more snaps at the massage parlor than on the field.

He’ll certainly have some rust but when he’s on the field he’s shown to be a top 10 talent. It just really comes down to one’s perspective I guess… do you put him on the list and take him off if he fails or do you not include him on the list and put him on if he succeeds.

Between the rust and ongoing distraction in think he comes off until he proves otherwise. No disagreement on prior performance though.

Top 10? Honestly, more like top five (top three being the highpoint). That's why he commanded the money that he did. Houston was pretty bad for a couple of seasons, especially his last in 2020, and yet his numbers were off the charts. Drop him in that position, and in theory he'll stay top five at worst.

2 thoughts. 1, How can a QB have great stats and the team only wins 4 games? Are they garbage yards and scores after the game is lost? Or don't he not have what it takes to win it at the end? It doesn't add up. Yes, the team was bad but to be that great of a QB, aren't you suppose to elevate the guys around you?

He probably did elevate the guys around him to be honest (LOL). They were just that bad.

I'm not saying it was this specific article that I read many months ago, but it will give you some perspective.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/01/06/with-great-stats-and-a-4-12-record-deshaun-watson-had-an-unprecedented-season/

Might have been this one (I can't remember).

https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/houston-texans-quarterback-deshaun-watson-was-the-nfls-best-quarterback-in-2020-pff-argues

Here's another one:

https://www.espn.com/blog/houston-texans/post/_/id/25469/texans-cant-afford-any-more-wasted-seasons-for-deshaun-watson

Not gonna lie, I was skeptical of his play back then...until I began reading stuff like this.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
