interesting convo about jake post game

between rhys lloyd and bill voth (one of the rising beat reporters) on twitter. thought it might give some unfortunate(?) insight into what the team thinks...

billvoth Jake plays like an old man in a Turkey Bowl game and wings his 4th INT of the day. #Panthers will lose 17-6 and fall to 4-7.
billvoth Not every time, but he's now 9-33. RT @Pantherfan4life: @billvoth Everytime Jake throws for more than 30 attempts, Carolina loses.
rhysjlloyd Landed back in Charlotte. Heading back to the house. See how the wife is doing. Maybe a beverage will be in the cards
billvoth @rhysjlloyd Rhys...what's up?
rhysjlloyd @billvoth are u really blaming Jake.
rhysjlloyd @billvoth u know better surely...
billvoth @rhysjlloyd of course, i wouldn't put ALL the blame on him. but i don't think i'm alone in thinking he's struggled this yr, today included
rhysjlloyd @billvoth trust me when I say 10 other guys on the field. I'm not trying to be that guy, but there are a select few that understand
rhysjlloyd @billvoth but in all due respect , the outside world and the locker room is completely different. We know the real story.
billvoth @rhysjlloyd Fair enough. To his credit, Jake would be the 1st to take blame, but that's what he's always done. Good of you to have his back.
seems to go along with what i have heard from others on the team since yesterday's loss...on offense and defense. the team, for better or (most likely) worse has an emotional attachment to jake and any transition will come uneasily. jake's broken finger may make the whole issue moot but still, there is going to be some holdover from the players. fox isn't the only one on this team with loyalty issues, imo.

not saying that this is a bad thing but maybe they are too close to the situation and can't take a step back and look at it objectively.

there is nothing interesting that concerns Jake Delhomme. The fact that he even has a job in the NFL had some luster at one time based on the sheer confusion factor but that shine has long since faded for me.

They could can his ass tomorrow and take out a front page ad in the observer stating that he played because he has held John Fox's grandchildren hostage in a bed n breakfast near the site where Fred Lane was murdered for the last two years and has been harvsting the children's plasma for use as an untraceable steroid for his race horses and I would not be shocked. I just don't give a shyte.

I would read that and be like.."ahhh makes sense.....Let's see who the Bobcats play tonight"

to be in all honesty, Its going to be different without Delhomme. i mean hes such a good guy and he did a lot for us. good and of course the bad. its a shame to see his career go down like this. matt moore isnt the answer guys, aj feely isnt either. Moore is the best option, but i just dont think he can get it done. sure he beat seattle and tampa. but tampa played its 2nd string that game, and in the seattle game, we only scored 1 td and it was deangelo.

Rhys Lloyd is a kicker. No offense Rhys, but your not a real football player...Must be catching this bit of locker intel in between running for new cups of water for the real players..and btw...why don't you try kicking for a touchback every now and then..isn't that why your here???

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on the Huddle.

As long as games can be won and lost with field goals and field position, kickers will be valuable players. How many games has Kasay won us over the years? How many touchbacks did Lloyd account for last year?

He's not even a Kicker. He is a Specialist. Which means he is not even good enough to be a Kicker.

LOL it dose not really matter now cause they just return it from 5 yards into the endzone. I think every team has figured out that Crossman is the NFLs Mr.Magoo.

Yeah...ok.

Let's talk sh!t about Lloyd, while we have the most inept QB in the history of the NFL. Jake is making Ryan Leaf look like a viable option right now.

I love the guys heart, attitude, all that and beyond.....but I'm tired of the dumb sh!t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure most others are as well.

    • I'd like to see the gameday chats come back, especially if you can get it mobile compatible and like those support chats that stay on the screen even when you move around the site. We could use them during CLTFC and Hornets games now too.
    • There's a lot of truth here, but at the same time, that one year of production we might be paying for is actually paying for a development arc. And a lot of players have those. QB is the most complicated position in sports, hands down.  I'm not saying Bryce will make it past the hump this year, the odds are stacked against him just like any QB in the league that isn't already considered an elite player (and there are only about 5-8 of those at most). Arcs happen, and slow arcs happen, too. Sam Darnold seemed a wash up for the Jets and a horrible mistake. He was better with us, but still couldn't carry a bad team on his shoulders (or bad coaching). He went to Minnesota and got a shot under better coaching with more mature eyes to see the field. Something sparked and then he took his team to the Super Bowl and brought home a ring. Baker Mayfield had a similar arc, and may yet hit the big game. Hell, locally, Jake Delhomme had one. Or Bryce could flutter back down having already hit his peak. It happens. More often than any of us want to admit. We've paid for a full development arc for Bryce, but we've had it on rookie deal rates and that's been a savings that has let us build out the rest of the team, which was really needed. Maybe we end up diving back into the QB pool in the first round next season. Might be the guy, might not.  But he'll be set up with a better team that Bryce was when he started. Or maybe, just maybe, Bryce adds another seven TDs and loses four INTs on the season. Grabs three more wins and maybe a playoff win, maybe two. It's not completely impossible and that'd be great for the team and for him.  We're just going to have to tune in and see how it plays out. Probably won't be boring.
    • I am holding out hope for a miraculous run this season. But you know the narrative around him is peak delusional when the Panthers social team can post this without even a hint of irony. Four years and almost 50 games into his career he still looks like he's never set foot in the weight room. Really?
