What’s your 2023 QB big board (including Corral)

The Panthers fan in me really wishes he was draft eligible. The Tar Heels fan in me is really glad that he's not.

Obviously you can never count on someone being available next year, but it does suck when there's the possibility of a guy being better than your current options.

I don’t hate him at all you are being dramatic. I have said since training camp rhule fuged this kid.  I have also Said the odds of a 3rd round pick becoming a franchise guy is astronomical.    Now with his injury and new staff there is no realistic avenue for him to contribute to this team in the near future.

otas and minicamps don’t give a rookie learning a new offense that much of a head start?  Goddamn dude okay I am not even getting in to that with you.  Just look at baker for exhibit a.

You mentioned normally teams won't do this or that.

Corral situation isn't normal whatsoever.  You've agreed Rhule Fuged him, as do I.

I do not believe any new coach isn't going to just shrug off Corral because he wasn't his pick.  It's a golden opportunity to have two good young QBs to choose from.  You don't know whether either of them will pick up the offense better than the other.

That's why you have competition. Let the players decide on the field not on draft status or anything else.  In the end Corral might win the job or he could be the 3rd QB. It called competition.  This is all I've ever implied.  He will get a chance to compete.

As far as not being able to practice until August.  That is purely based on the timetable of this injury.  Many QBs in the past have had the "Not until August" label and yet participate in many or all of the OTAs and minicamps.  If Corral can move without pain, he'll be competing.  They may be kept out of contact drills and any drill that might cause a reinjury.  We'll truly find out when OTAs and minicamps start.  Even so, he'll be there and do whatever work he can do to win the job.

Come August, he'll compete, plain and simple.

I agree we'll draft a QB but I also believe Corral will be given every opportunity to win the job.

I don't know about him getting a shot as a starter (it'd be a long shot if he does) but I do firmly believe he should get a fair chance to stay on the roster...and probably will.

It would seem like a mistake to simply drop him without at least seeing if he's got something to offer.

He'll be on the roster for sure.  I don't see where it's a long shot at starting though.

We'll start the offseason with PJ or a veteran on the team with Corral.  One or the other.  Assuming we change OC, none of the QBs will have a full knowledge of that offense.  While Corral might be behind the eight ball if his injury still lingers, I don't see why we won't have a full competition between the 3 QBs on this roster.  It's not like we'll have a QB that has been on the team for awhile and is facing competition.

I guess we'll see.

The long shot is that he's likely going to be competing with a very highly drafted prospect.

Throw a veteran in there and the challenge gets even tougher.

Yeah unless they literally draft 2 QB's I don't see how he's not here through Preseason week 3 at least. We've already been through half the realistic upcoming FA class

This is a good draft class but there isn't one in this class that I would say is a "Franchise QB".  I don't think it is as long as a long shot as you believe.

I guess we'll see.

They don't have to be.

They just have to be a good starter.

I just don’t see a guy in this draft where I'm like take that guy!

The guy I least want is Young. A midget that has a year to throw and wide open recievers with a D that typically shuts down the other team so he faces an increasingly fatigued defense himself will not transition well.

#5: Matt Corral - I don't even think I have Matt at 5, there are better prospects. I saw Matt play in the NFL, he unfortunately does not have it. I wanted him to succeed very much, he's from my area and seems like a great dude. His debut was really weak and with the foot / leg injuries back to back, I don't ever see him breaking out.

Sound ridiculous calling a couple of preseason drives with the backups "playing in the NFL".

    • Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.
    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
