It's just PFF-esque brain rot IMO. I just watch football. I don't really care about whatever arbitrary rating someone or some system comes up with. My eyes told me Rodgers didn't look good tonight and he threw a god awful late INT that cost his team the game.

I didn't watch any of Howell, so I have no basis for any comparison other than a box score.

If he gets to play some meaningful football next season then perhaps we will have some idea about his NFL future.

Usage rate looks a little Darnold-esque.

Typical Rivera offense. Run 1st down, run 2nd down, throw on 3rd and long then if you do somehow build a decent lead go ahead and run on 3rd and long too. Howell bailed them out on several third downs. A couple running, another on a though cross body throw while scrambling. Should've connected on another deep bomb but the receiver let up for some reason, ball was a dime. Another 3rd down McLaurin dropped a perfectly thrown ball at the sticks where he had room to run to boot. Made some good decisions with a couple of throwaways and sliding when scrambling. Only really bad play was a pick in the endzone. Ron addressed that and basically said Howell tried to finesse it instead of sling the thing like he knows he can do. It was a low percentage shot that should've been to the corner where either his guy got it or no one got it.

He looked damn good from a traits perspective. The arm talent looked damn good on an NFL field vs. starters. The wheels looked good. The Commanders have something to work with. Wish we did

OROY is looking super close this year, there were a lot of really solid performances, no breakout stars but a few close ones.  Pierce was a clear frontrunner as he was at 950 rushing before getting injured those last 4 weeks, but that changed it up.

You've got:

Garrett Wilson, Kenneth Walker, Chris Olave, Brock Purdy, Christian Watson, Isiah Pacheco, Tyler Allgeier

I'd say those 7 all have some arguments.  Can confidently say Pickett, Pickens, B Rob, & White won't get it.

As much as I dislike ATL, Allgeier really showed some stuff down the stretch, ended up with a 1000 yard season.

But think it comes down to Wilson & Walker, I'd give it to Wilson but betting odds are favoring Walker.  What Wilson & Olave were able to do with their respective QB situations is impressive.  In SEA, I'd just as much give the OROY to the entire rookie unit of Cross, Lucas, & Walker.  Abe Lucas ended up being a real find.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
