What does Steve Wilks do better than Ron Rivera?

All I see is that he’s not as stubborn about personnel. Rivera woulda held onto CMC and kept running him into a wall every week. And if Fitterer got rid of CMC anyway, there’s no way Blackshear would be getting the opportunities he’s getting under Rivera. Bozeman would still be on the bench. Etc.

Dunno about Bozeman - although Rivera was very loyal to his guys, it was mostly to the detriment of rookies versus good veterans. But you are right on CMC and one of apparent benefits of Wilks over Rivera.

However, I'm a little afraid to crown Wilks that way yet since we've had very little time overall with him...

I have accepted that the panthers will most likely make the same mistake and Wilks will be our HC for the next 3-4 years with no back to back winning seasons or Super Bowl wins because he is a clone of Rivera and we wont be contenders until sometime in 2028-2030 if we hired the right coach a couple years prior after Wilks is fired around 2026.

Under ron

Terrace Marshall would still be inactive

Raheem Blackshear would still be on the practice squad if even on the team

Baker would still be here playing like ass

we would still be forcing it to McCaffery

I don't know, I mean Bonnafon got a decent amount of Carries,  But overall, Ron is like a lot of old school coaches in the NFL today.  He overuses his best running backs.  Don't know yet if Wilkes does that.

    • well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things.  and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it).  Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
    • Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.
    • Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.
