Sam Darnold had the 13th worst QB win in NFL history if we measured passer rating

This thread's a fugin' clown car.

And you're driving. I posted where those stats you keep spouting would rank in the NFL. Sorry, but 15th best in the NFL doesn't = not worth a back up role.

You can tout the historic rushing numbers if you'd like, but Darnold had average starter outings when the rushing game no showed.

First - Sam has been given more opportunity than other comparable busts.  Saying other bad QBs exist doesn't counter that statement.

Second - I credit the best rushing attack in the NFL post Rhule's firing for salvaging the season to a respectable end.   Not the QB play.

Third - What are you talking about? What playoff QB would we be getting?  Present playoff QBs have nothing to do with what we would be looking for in a vet/mentor/coach QB add for young QBs on our roster.  That's not who would fill that role.  You aren't adding that guy to play.   Unless your season is a disaster, and everything implodes.  See a Joe Flacco in NY this season.  He was hired for that role.  His role is emergency QB at best in terms of playing.   But he knows how to play.  He knows the game.  He has seen success.  He is a paid coach.

We need add actual talent that can turn into something.  No more Teddy, Sam, Baker, recycling.   They all were what they were when we added them.   You aren't' fixing established guys.  And they all were when we added them.  Established as not good enough.

Fourth - again, Sam Darnold doesn't have the resume.  He needs a mentor still on how to play because he isn't good.   All Sam can mentor someone on is dealing with the bad.   Which is something.  But he doesn't know the good.  Again, the reason speaks for itself.

Do you even read what you post? The ONLY thing in that post I agree with is "We need actual talent" the rest is just you fluffing the bust stigma.

I get it, numbers are hard bruh. Don't want to quantify 'average' now.

Gotta distract from any real argument.

A 58% completion percentage, with 3200 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions with a high number of fumbles and more receiver batted down interceptions than touchdowns will never, ever, in any way be considered good in the modern NFL.

There is no argument on that.  Sam Darnold is a massive bust.

It's just a fact that happens to come up when someone wants to talk about him playing here in 2023.  There is no reason for him.

Do you think Matt Corral and PJ Walker are better?

Krovvy, you're trolling.

You have to be for purposely ignoring what I said.

Or maybe you forgot that you put up those stats (3238 Yards, 20 touchdowns, 9 interceptions), were called out on it, and are trying to backtrack into more nonsense...

Bridge qbs keep you mired in mediocrity. That's all we've had since we lost Cam. It's time to suck it up and start the draft pick or Corrall and move on. Let the chips fall where they may.

I'm with you.  Start the rookie and if he struggles that's fine we land a top pick to help him out or replace him.

1 game. Now do the 6 before that. I dare you.

Sam Darnold didn't even throw for 165 yards in 50% of his games.

When he did, we went 1-2.  The one win being over the worst pass D in the NFL.

The key to winning with Sam Darnold.  Is doing your best to make him invisible.  Minimize his impact.  Because he doesn't play QB well.

Oh, don't want to include that one game against an awful divisional opponent now? Okay, so you only want to cherry pick the 5 previous, or do you want to remove a few of those too? Maybe another divisional opponent? Certainly, you don't want to include his first year in Carolina or his rookie years in New York.

Damm you are something. You posted 43 yards. Which is one game. You cherry picker.

Sam led the league in passer rating the 6 games before that. But that doesn't fit your pitiful narrative.

    • I went to Canes games back in '04 & '05 when you were probably still a swimmer waiting to make your dad a father. There was no one there bc they sucked. Some of the lowest attendance in the NHL. As a Panthers fan coming off a SB season (03-04), I couldn't even believe they put a hockey team in Raleigh, and given the attendance, a lot of people speculated they would be relocated somewhere back up north where they would be supported and not "Mayberry." Seriously, educate youself.  That is reality. That being said, comparing that environment to 2024 Canes would be disingenuous. I was at PNC last year and know how great the current environment is. Comparing the current environment at BOA to 10 years ago is just as disingenuous.  Just bc you didn't witness how good BOA is when the Panthers are actually decent doesn't change reality. Seriously, surely you see that coming from such an elitist environment like the globally renowned world-class city of Raleigh, NC... I guarantee you if you went to a Canes game and a Panthers game in 2005, the difference would be unreal bc the Panthers were awesome and the Canes were (at the time) a moribund franchise. I have been in BOA when the whole stadium was rocking. You simply are young, don't know what you're talking about, but want to portray yourself as having knowledge about things you simply don't. You have a lot in common with modern day politicians and televangelists Like I said, Idiocracy has prevailed... Have a great day too!
    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
