I know Waddell wants something more than a rental, but I am hearing Patches wants to give it another try next year, hum. If we got Timo and Patches with this core, wow.

And I think the Canes are seriously considering keeping him next year. Look, after 2 Achilles injuries in less than a year, he'll have had 10 months of rehab before lacing up the skates next season. He will also take a lower salary number given he's very damaged goods at this point. He might play for $5.5-6M versus the $7M he got this year.

I actually believe he would play for a little lower than that, possibly $4.5 for two years.  It is said he really likes Raleigh and NC in general, and he really likes Rod and the team.

I think Waddles is trying to land Timo, but he isn't going to give up the farm to do it.  I also believe he'll want an extension in place before he sends the goods over to SJ.

If they miss on Timo, I am expecting Donny to kick the tires on Barbashev as a rental for a 3rd rounder and mid-level prospect (maybe more if they arrange an extension).  I still believe he's talking to the Preds about Nino.

Maybe Boeser, he's got term although I think Vancouver would have to retain some salary if they want anything of real value for him.  Boeser needs a change of scenery and could be very solid on the Canes, he is having his worst season of his career this year.

An under the radar move that would make our bottom 6 a little faster would be Sam Lafferty, he's fast and has shown he can score a little.  He also comes with term and shouldn't cost much.  Doesn't move the needle and I really don't know who he would bump out of the lineup....probably a stupid thought here.

Dundon did an interview with Seravalli today and he stated that we are going to be aggressive. Seravalli stated later after the interview was over that the Canes have a very good offer in for Meier.

Very good scares me a bit… did we offer a first rounder, Morrow, and Drury…

Very good for us?

    • The team wore down and shots stopped falling.  Ball, Miller and Kon have to play well.  At least 2 of the 3.  2/16…0/6. That ain’t gonna cut it.     If Bridges and White are the only ones hitting from 3, it’s not gonna go well.  The 3’s make Moose and Kalk work.  No 3’s it gets too crowded for them with all the bodies crashing the boards.    (Kalk needs to add strength, something awful tho.)
    • Was at the game and NYCFC honestly outplayed CLT the whole way.  Khalina and Zaha carried the team.  Zaha's wife on IG making it sound like he's gone come July. They're going to have to pay him or find a big time replacement because the team looks like pretty lost without him.
    • No one's saying LaMelo has no blame we're responding to you acting like he's the reason they lost. The scapegoating and blaming the teams woes on his personality is where it's like Cam Newton all over again. It was a failure on multiple fronts and primarily Lee's. Dude said ON AIR pregame that they had to protect the paint and if that was his gameplan going in he couldn't have botched it more. As the commentators said Ball's a rhythm guy and Orlando was preventing him for getting any kind of flow going. I'm a normie watching on TV and said they needed to bait them into fouling to combat that. They didn't even try until the 2nd half when it was too late. I think it's fair to expect the star to overcome whatever but LaMelo was not the problem in that game and he's not what is holding the team back. He's the only reason they're flirting with being a great team. I kinda put the center play on Lee too. Moose is great until he's up against a big who can body him. We've always known that and that's what Kalkbrenner is for. I don't know if it would have changed much but Kalkbrenner should have had more minutes than him.  And moving forward with the center position, I just think it's the time to trade Diabate while his stock's high and that's not an indictment of his game. He's like an evolved combination of Biyombo and PJ. He's a great rim protector and the strength issue is just what you're going to have to deal with if you want that. But Kalkbrenner is perfectly capable of protecting the rim and we gotta get away from the undersized centers or it'll always be a problem for us.
