Everyone saying Moore is not the long term answer..

We don't have enough read on moore to know if he will turn it loose or not. You knew with jake he was going to sling it and that if the offense was conservative it wasn't due to him. Moore may or may not take chances. A quarterback can control the offense in a number of ways. Audibelize to a run instead of pass. Take the short 2 yard gain instead of the long pass etc. No one is saying that being conservative is bad or that he shouldn't have run although we had nothing to lose by throwing it. The field goal was assured and there was plenty of time on the clock either way. I am just saying that sometimes the quarterback can play not to lose either which makes a conservative offense reactionary.

Audibelize?!? They make Audi's in Belize

What about Josh Freeman his first game this year?

Came out with 3 Tds and 1 Int versus Green Bay in his first start. Rating of 87. Not really that much of an exception.

Yeah, and look what he did in his 5th start, 0 TD's 5 Picks... looks like a monster.

Moore has never thrown that many picks in a game.. hmm

A couple good points, and I agree with the overall premise...

But, as far as watching Jake's "poor mechanics," that didn't affect him... Remember, Jake sat behind AARON BROOKS before coming here and becoming a starter, lol... Brooks never had the success Jake did, so that says a lot.

Moore has shown great potential. I've mentioned a million times before, but when Moore came out of Ore St., Jaws said he had the most potential out of all the late round guys and pointed him out as a diamond in the rough that would be available late in the draft. Well, luckily we got him after the Cowboys let him go (undrafted of course)... And I believe Jaws when he says a guy is good, the guy knows film like not other.

I really think Moore could be a franchise guy, but we'll have to see what he does the next few weeks to really know for sure.

i'm all for giving the guy a chance but i'm not holding my breath. if he ends up good, great. if he ends up sucking, whatever, at least we gave him a shot.
It isn't like we don't have plenty of experience with quarterbacks who turned out not to be the one. Moore would be the next in line.

He hasn't played 5 games in his career. So far he has thrown more picks than TDs. hmmmmmmmm............................
In Moore's defense, 3 of his INT's were in games in which he played in garbage time as a rookie.

There's certainly not enough to say that Moore is NOT the answer, yet, there isn't enough to say that he IS the answer. It's silly to make a decision either way right now.

I love how you guys are absolutely set on hoping Moore fails. I hope your wrong, for the Panthers sake.

Me too. Whether you like Moore or not, it is in everyone's best interest for him to turn out to be the real deal. Even if we draft a rookie, we need to start someone for a year or two until they are ready to start. That way Moore can groom his successor much like Jake did for Moore.

For once we agree. Here's to hoping for success.

I'm waiting to see him next weekend (assuming he hopefully gets the start)

Anyone making a decision in their minds at this point is an idiot.

Agreed. Have to give a Qb about 4 games to see what he can do and then you really dont know. But 1 game is not enough to go by. Saw things he could improve on so the next few games I will see if he adjust on those things.

For some reason when I saw Moore run down the field after that big pass to Smitty all I think about was a younger Delhomme. Not saying Moore is our future, but if you brought in a promising rookie next year I think the competition would get very interesting.....assuming we get a new coach

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
