Official Head Coach 2010 thread

Well I know a lot of people are on the Bill Cowher Love Train but I for one rather go for someone who hasn't been a head coach yet but poised to become one. For Example:

Mike Zimmer, DC, Bengals- Great defensive minded coach who has made the Bengals defense one of the best in team history. His motor and winning attitude would be a perfect fit for this struggling offense and he can bring Mike Zampese with him to coach up these QBs.

Leslie Frazier, DC, Vikings- Considering that the Vikings and Panthers run similiar defensive schemes, I would love to see Frazier come in and see what he could do with this defensive. He has turned a, once, stuggling defense into a top 10 pass rushing force to be reckon with.

Ron Meeks, DC, Panthers- I may get bashed on this choice but why not stay in house and promote Meeks? Believe it or not, he isn't John Fox so I don't think Meeks would be as traditional and conservative like Fox has been. I mean, after all, he probably has learned more from Dungy then he has from Fox and Dungy is a legend. On top of that, the players already know Meeks and already has trust in him and could turn into a Mike Singletary situation.

Sean McDermott, DC, Eagles- All you have to do is watch an Eagles game and realize just how good their defense is. Most of this is due because of the late, great Jim Johnson but coach McDermott has eased the transition by having a great motor and again, a winning philosphy.

Ron Rivera, DC, Chargers- This guy is long over due for a head coaching position. He made the Bears defense into a solid, full-throttle defense and when he came to the Chargers, made them into a hard nose defense in the Top 10 in the league. Plus, the Chargers has a Top 5 QB in Phillip Rivers and two great RBs which Carolina has as well (with the exception of a great QB.)

So these are the guys I like to possibly see if Fox is fired.

    • KP is not a straight up carbon copy but they look awful close to me.  T
    • You are right. At the same time I don’t think people are watching games going come on Bryce put it on the ground or sail it OB or whatever. They just have trouble seeing him turning his 3 or four or five top games of 2025 into the weekly standard outing. Which you expect for the kind of money he will ask for (speaking for myself anyway).
    • In terms of comparing Pickett and Young's arm talent it's basically a push at best. Pickett is sitting at 6.2 yards per pass attempt for his career while Bryce sits at 6.0 Last season Bryce was 6.3 in yards per pass attempt. Only Justin Fields Spencer Rattler (both 6.2) Kyler Murray (6.0) 41 year old Joe Flacco (6.0) 44 year old Phillip Rivers (5.9) rookie Cam Ward (5.9) and Tyrod Taylor (5.8) had less pass yards per attempt than Bryce Young in his third season as a starter. Folks going around acting as if it is beyond the pale to say Pickett might have a better arm than Young are living in an alternate reality. You can choose to not believe your own eyes after 46 games but everyone else will acknowledge reality and move forward accordingly.
