Biggest priority this offseason??

So I ask what does everyone here think should be the panthers biggest priority in the offseason (not including coach/FO positions)? I know that many decisions will depend on the coaching situation but i think the needs stay the same.

In my opinion it should go like this:

1. A viable option at the 2nd WR spot... I would love an Anquon Boldin or Vincent Jackson but lets be honest is that really going to happen? No... but all we need is viable not extraordinary we already have that in smitty. So my hope is maybe we can pick up a solid #2 in FA and possible pick up a steal in the draft somewhere at this position so our recieving corps would look like.... 1-smitty, 2-FA, 3-moose, 4-cheap FA pick up/Steal in Draft

2. QB (someone to compete w/Moore)... Don't get me wrong, I hope Moore is the future, I hope he is starting next season but their is nothing wrong with bringing in competition at the position and Delhomme is certainly not that.

3. DE (depending on the Peppers situation)... As stated this all depends on the Pepp situation so who the hell knows what we will need here.

Also, we need someone, somebody, anybody that can fckng return punts. One of the most frustrating things to watch on the team.

So thoughts?

I think we need to draft a later round QB or possibly sign some one. But if Jake is still here don't think that he won't compete for the job. Jake is a competitor no matter how much better Moore is than him. Moore should be starter from here on out no question but I think we will see an improved Jake Delhomme next season whether he's a back up or playing somewhere else.

But # 2 WR is the immeidate priority. I think Boldin is a slim chance but we could bring in Breaston, though I'm not sure he is good enough.

But we need to draft a WR for sure.

Definately need to get some more options at WR, we lack alot of debth there. As far as the quarterback position goes if Moore continues to play like he has the past two weeks, thats all we need. I mean we are upsetting some pretty good teams, so he works for us. The other position thats a big concern in the offseason is the DT postion we have added some debth there with all the injuries that have occured but I think it would be wise to bring in another proven veteran.

I don't think we really need a QB to compete with Moore. In my opinion, with the talent and the character that Moore has, if he is named the starter at the beginning of the season and is given the full support of the organization as such, he will thrive. Look how well he has done just coming in off the bench after sitting behind Jake most of the season with the coaching staff insisting that Jake was the better QB. If we give Moore the reigns going into next season, he's going to be excellent.

I believe we should draft a QB to start developing behind Moore. We don't want to have to revert to Delhomme if Moore ever got hurt, and you always need a QB for the future. This draft is rich with good QB's; we can get a guy with a lot of potential in the 2nd (Pike, LeFevour), or we can get a guy who could be developed into a strong QB in the 6th (Skinner).

I believe the WR is the Number one priority. I really believe Peppers will sign a new contract and retire a Panther. If we can bring in a QB to compete fine, but I am satisfied with Moore. He is just the kind of QB Fox likes and Maybe he finally sees that! Moore is what Jake was in 2003 and can be just as good or better.

i still am saying DT. until the last 2 weeks we couldnt stop the run worth a damn. as for DE, i am happy with it as it stands ( i am assuming we keep pep at this point). brown, and CJ are stepping up, and brayton is a above ave starter (esp against the run). if pep is signed and traded, i want derrick morgan or james hardy. neither are pep, but both extremely solid against the run, and good/great pass rushers.

dt is a crap shoot. i am not counting on hollis thomas staying healthy again, kemo is still a 1 trick pony, and the rest of the dt rotation is average at best. i would start asking the chiefs about a trade, what do they think dwill or stewie is worth, and ask what they want for dorsey or their 1st rounder. i would rather get the 1st (i want suh dammit!)

we also must get WR depth. after smith it goes down hill fast. moose is average (and possibly a FA), but after him we got jack poo. this draft is loaded with wrs. malcom floyd would be an intresting pickup out of SD. another would be kevin walter from the texans. neither are #1 calibre, but would be great complements to smitty. also we should draft a wr or 2. im eying mccluster and decker as 2 complementary players going forward that wouldnt cost alot. dez is a pipe dream (and a major badass, crabtree good) that i would love to see happen if we cant get suh or a qb with the 1st round pick we aquire somehow.

qb, need backup/starter. jake = gone. mccown possible cut. cantwell is likely not ready. this is the true crap shoot. i would be more comfortable giving harrington a look than delhomme at this point. i would love t jax but no new CBA, then they would be a RFA, and likely stay. also RESIGN MOORE! he has proven he is a backup minimum at this point. he can make 27 yard passes over the middle (howed that arm look today?), made 2 beautiful touch passes to moose. he did make 2 bone headed throws (the 1st drive that was close to an int in the endzone) and forcing it to smitty in the 3rd. he can be a manager atleast, possibly more.

Hopefully there is some Cap-friendly way to resign Pep, as of late he's been godly.

We need to resign our top priority Players this Offseason, and Aikman said it best we need some offensive weapons to the outside ie: Wide Receiver.

There's a new era in Carolina fans, get ready.

    • Baker was traded before he played his 5th year.  RGIII was cut before playing his 5th year. So it is rare but it happens.
    • Time to hit 4000 yards and 30 TDs (including rushing). I don't care about INTs anymore. That's a big part of the problem. He plays uber conservative until the game is on the line. Playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. Time to let it friggin rip from the get. The team can win with a pick or 2 if he has 3-4 TDs. Stop playing scared.  But to be fair, his WRs have not been great. You all can bash about 1st round picks and O-line cap all you want.  Chuba as your #1 RB his entire career.  Adam Thielen as your best WR for 2 of 3 seasons is ridiculous. Then a rookie as your best in the 3rd season. Legette is not a 1st round talent. Probably closer to a 4th if you compare him to Brazzel this year. Coker has been a walking injury report. Nothing else to really speak of at WR or TE. Jimmy Horn has potential, but he is not an NFL starter yet. Oline has been better as run blockers than pass blockers. Ickey has always been so-so as a pass blocking LT. Center has been a revolving door for 3 years. Damien Lewis has been as marketed. Hunt is a great run blocker but an ok pass blocker - when healthy. Moton has been solid at RT. Biggest problem with the oline has been depth. When someone went down, their replacement became a glaring weakness. Overall a good but not great unit the last 2 years. 2023 was a ish show. Nothing else to say.  Not one game breaker, take it to the house offensive weapon since DJ Moore. Hopefully we get a little of that from Brazzell.  Either way, in his 4th season, it doesn't matter. You have to be able to overcome whatever comes your way. First 3 seasons with a young supporting cast is defendable. Can't use that anymore though. 3rd year in the offense. 3rd year with the same HC.
    • Highest amount of OL salary cap in the league too. The Chiefs are behind us at 2 but we are ahead of them by a cool $23 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2026/table/active/sort/cap_total
