How many of these plays could Bryce make?

Not saying they are the same type of player or same coaches or team mates yadda yadda..

When you trade up to get a QB he should at the LEAST give you some hope for the future. I don't wanna hear "ex QB struggled so it's ok" because to only have a qbr over Zach Wilson after reading headline after headline of

"Bryce Young’s exemplary processing skills show he’s the most NFL ready quarterback"

Where is it? There should be glimpses not preaching patience if you a baller you either got it or you don't. Were all of cams pockets clean his first game...heck no but he had a NFL arm and NFL body. Bryce has none of the above, this ain't Alabama where the talent discrepancy is obvious and it's showing now.

So all you Bryce Young patience preachers tell me, how many of these plays do you think he could make?

I still remember that game and where i was at the time. Its a channel on youtube that post a lot of old games of the cam era panthers that a watch sometimes. You really forget the incredible throws he use to make.

My dad was so skeptical about Cam and I remember him calling me and saying... goddamn, this kid might be the best QB in the NFL already

I was saying during the draft lead-up that everything people were saying about Richardson, I heard the exact same things about Cam. Almost verbatim. Now with hindsight people will say "everybody knew Cam would be good!" but those of us old enough to remember can still hear he's not smart enough, he can't just out-athlete everybody in the NFL like he did in college, he doesn't love football, on and on.

I'm still optimistic about Bryce but not with this coach.

poo just makes me want to cry. We went from having that guy to this utter fuging poo show.

From the pre draft till now I just understand what people were seeing, they gotta be bama saban fans or maybe they just like that kid that much personally to where they want him to succeed. I just think as franchise you have to make franchise changes decisions based off more than that. You really gotta convince yourself that the uncoachable flaws aint that big of deal to take this kind of player number 1. I remember analyst saying a lot of teams were glad not to have no. 1 pick because they didnt want this kinda decision.

I agree with most of what you said.  My issue with the last sentence is that we already gave so much just to get bryce, i dont want to go down path of firing coaches, trading away good players just to make things easier for him cuz i don't think he is worth that yet. He hasn't even shown us a glimpse of superstar capability with what he has currently. You get rid of everything valuable just for him and he still shows inability its just a deeper hole to dig out of. We are not in old times, you dont have to hitch your wagon that long anymore before you cut bait especially if the team is competing.

I wanted him because I thought he was the best prospect. I'm no Alabama fan. I still think he was the best prospect.

Frankly, I think a lot of people here are holding his size against him for no good reason other than he's not the 6'5, 250lb specimen Cam was.

This thread asks how many of those throws Bryce could make; a better question is how many throws like that Cam would make if you put him in the mess Bryce has been thrown into.

Cam had a solid OL, Williams/Stewart at RB, Steve Smith at WR, Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey at TE and an offensive coordinator who was looking to be aggressive and throw downfield.

Bryce has Frank "remember the 90s" Reich calling plays, Chandler Zavala shitting the bed at one guard spot and some random waiver wire pickup at the other, one reliable receiver who also happens to be 33 years old, absolutely zero running game and an invisible TE group to throw to.

But go ahead and keep being mad because he's not able to replicate one of the best rookie QB seasons of all time.

Just like I’ve watched all of Princely’s Florida stuff I’m only pointing out the weight thing because I’m excited about the idea of him being 255-260 and being more of a stand up edge here in Carolina like he was at Purdue versus at A&M And like you, I have a crap load of experience doing the whole cutting/weight/fitness thing and I know how crappy/sluggish I feel when I’m holding as little as an extra 8-10lbs of unnecessary weight. So for Scourton to come out and say he’s 255-260 now and feels good that’s exciting based on what he’s put on film at 280 and not feeling his best
    • I hate seeing this. I'm not sure he was ever going to make it in the NFL without the injury but that injury knocked FSU out of the college football playoffs and cost him and them and opportunity on the biggest stage in college sports. The injuries are the worst part of this game. They've created a nearly unending list of "what ifs". Hell, every HS, college, and pro team out there has a long list of them. It's also a good reminder that there's no such thing as a routine major injury. Even though sports medicine has improved dramatically in recent decades, major injuries are still somewhat of a coin flip on how a guy is going to emerge from it.
    • I don't know what Texas A&M was doing with their edge rushers. They had two freaks in Scourton and Shemar Stewart and yet instead of turning them loose they asked them to play 20 lbs overweight and just set the edge. That's full-on coaching malpractice at any level. Much was made about Shemar Stewart's lack of sack production, but while he wasn't my favorite prospect this year a lot of that was clearly what they were asking him to do. The good news with Scourton is that, unlike Stewart, did manage to be a huge factor as a pass rusher despite this and despite playing 20 lbs overweight. If he can stay around 260-265 it should help him re-gain some of that explosiveness from his Purdue days.
